Coming home from work yesterday about 6-630 [...] Was that you?

Russley-Wairakei, almost certainly. If you were in a ute then I think from memory I gave you a thumbs up to say it was sorted. As usual, it was the bikers [in cars interestingly] who stopped to help.

For the authority that made the decision, to place a plaque on the edge of a footpath, on a very busy intersection, traffic lights included. On the MAIN route to the "towns" only international airport ... must have been lacking in respect to those it was representing.

Any awareness of its location AND purpose. However distasteful it may appear ... must have a positive side.

As an ex serviceman, it has been our fear. To die in some asshole of someone's empire, to be forgotten ... or never known by many, or any, that they existed. They gave for your freedoms... enjoy those freedoms.

In time ... over time, others will give too. Do not forget them.

No I won't. It will just turn into an argument that nobody needed to have, or even intended to start, and it won't solve a thing.

What will solve a thing, is this... let's all agree on a new rule of the game that nobody is to park any part of any bike on any memorial for anything again.

That way every contingency is covered.

I'm not one for pissing matches Shadows. At least now I see what you are objecting to. Still dont see what the fuss is about though. That slab of concrete gets walked on and stood on all the time. Its there to ensure the grass isnt perminatly worn out infront of the plaque.

My respect for our fallen is tangable in the number of hours I have stood stock still at Rest on Arms Reverse, as part of the Cenotaph Guard and the number of early ANZAC Day rises I have undertaken to be part of the Dawn Parade fireing party, and the number of old boys I've propped up ath the RSA after match function. Anyone with any real respect for anything has it in their heart though, and sees monuments for what they are: Slabs of concrete, lumps of marble and sheets of brass.

My boss hates me (its ok, I hate her to).

Once again camera phone pic that Ive tried to lighten. Use your imagination, there's a stream and a bridge directly behind the pole and behind that there is a field (a big one that used to on occasions hold major archery tournaments that the Christchurch Archery Club couldn't hold on its own grounds due to space) and some buildings on the edge of the field.

11th floor is open till 10:30, anyone can enter the library, they don't retina scan you, or god forbid ask for your student ID

I knew this would happen...but it's in the spirit of the game, you've worked out where it is, now you have to go to some place new and interesting to get the tag.

if you refer to rule #1 there's no reason to not reproduce the tag as best as possible, there's only 2 windows you can stand at on the 11th floor to get the angle.

if you refer to rule #2, canterbury university is very historic, if you go down kahu road etc it's nice and twisty.

rule #3 you've found the tag, and it's obvious 2 sports bikes can get there

now harden up and go get the tag, I'm getting bored.

edit: guzz, I haven't limited the round to students at all.

Yes, somewhere newish, I have no doubt the view of the courtyard is nice up there although I had hoped I'd left visits to Uni in the past never to be repeated.
Now if I were to argue the point of 'in the spirit' it has been said the game is all about riding where as you require us to park our bikes then leave them behind for a while as we enter a building and go up some stairs or a lift, ending up quite a long way away from our precious s.
But rather than argue  I'm just going to leave it to others to fetch while I go :ride: elsewhere.

I'm saying this clue "If you've journeyed to, (or more accurately, from) some of Canterbury's twistier roads you're likely to have gone right past it." was a bit sucky as it sent me looking in a completely different direction.
Going north to get any thing comparable still requires a fair amount of straight and the corners are more open, which to me are less twisty.
No problem, it was just too ambiguous for me.

the MHR is more aligned with the S2 innit? I am sure there was one in the showroom when i bought the S2

The 1st generation 900 MHR is close to the S2 which were both based on the 900ss but the MHR Mille was the last of the line of the Bevels, the Mille designation is relative to the capacity (1000cc).... the largest bevel drive engine produced......the end of an era (85-86), the S2 was produced after the finish of the ss models using the same spec motor and then at the very end used the Mille engine as well.
Kickaha got his through TradeMe from Invercargill and the one I put up was brought through Pacific Motorcycles (ex-japan) then Phil Payne sorted it out with a lot of the gear he was using on his MHR Mille powered Alchemy RV-1 race bike (Brook Henry, Vee Two Australia designed frame units running duke engines) in BEARS in the early 90s). It got a small write-up in the readers rides section of STREETBIKE magazine (issue 47).

Easy, we knew it was north of the Waimak, picturesque steep banked river in a residential area/township, and could guess it would be closer to town than Oxford. Doesn't leave much room for guess work, there's only one river that came to mind.

Fire up google maps ( http://maps.google.com/ ) or google earth, satellite view and zoom in over the river(s) to look for foot bridges.

They are all Saints, there is also a Mt Catherine, a Lawrence River both in Canterbury, cant find much on Jerome searches other than the Saint result.
Nothing really helpful yet and I guess my biggest problem is I just really don't know the context in which the clues were intended.

It might help Dangerous with an Answer to his question as well

Catherine - well, which one, there's a few.

Lawrence and Jerome both hold students amongst their patronage.

So we probably assume that it's a school house.

lol, depending where you look there are 3 to 20 different St Catherines, 11 St Jeromes (all though I think I know which one answer sounds reasonable).
I expected just one Saint of each name but.

I'm thinking Library to start with. No idea where.

Many saints are claimed by more than one group. Jerome is the patron saint of librarians (and others). Lawrence is the patron saint of archivists but is often referred to as "Lawrence the Librarian." Catherine is the patron saint of, inter alles, librarians, archivists, philosophers and more.

I really thought that would be an easy clue

Google street view wont help you with this one either

Obviously it's been a long time since I had any religous education and even then I'll admit I didn't subscribe to it much.
Not a totally bad clue, Library did seem to pop up quickly as a common denominator.
Knowing what we are looking for don't nessacerliy help knowing where to look though.
A lot of clues given on previous tags have turned out to be more directly related to street or place names.
I guess when we start trying to work them out it's easy to go off in one direction and get stuck along a line of thought unable to see other possabilitys.
They usually seem so obvious once the answer has been reveiled.

Still have no idea where but off on the cycle today and not expecting to see it in the places we will be.

I can't find anything online to show me what it looks like other than to say there is a library there. Hello, anyone riding today?

Works for the one I drive past practically every day to on the corner of Sawyers arms and main North road

This wasn't the one I intended to use but wandering around out in the countryside the bike started to hesitate

A) The MHR has no reserve
B) Low fuel light obviously doesn't work
C) Big feeling of relief when you find a gas station
D) Gas station is only any good to you if you have your cards or cash on you
E) MHR will go a surprising distance with bugger all fuel at 70 kmh

A few times pushing and you'll realise the value of keeping some cash stashed in your jacket somewhere, even just a 20 will pay for any gas you wind up pumping before you realise the wallet is at home.

I also keep a photocopy of my drivers licence with my cash stash.

Next tag back to Church. Not such a fancy bell tower as the last but doubtless its sound still travels well through the cold southern air.

St Thomas Church, South Eyre Rd

St Thomas’ Anglican – 590 South Eyre Road.
The Eyreton settlers originally attended St Paul’s at Flaxton, but that church
was not always accessible due to bad roading and flooding, so it was decided
to establish a church at Eyreton. Marmaduke Dixon donated land for a church
and cemetery. The Price Brothers were the builders and the church was
dedicated on 17 February 1874. The church was attached to the Kaiapoi
Parish and was first served by the Rev. Wm. W. Willock.
The Eyreton Cemetery is alongside.

The Chch lot seem reluctant to move beyond the city limits so I've moved it a bit closer to town

Ohoka – St Albans Anglican – 528 Mill Road
St Albans was consecrated on 31 May 1882. Robert Miller built the 130-seat
church after the completion of the Vicarage. B. W. Mountfort was the architect.

The vicarage was converted in 1909 to become the Te Waipounamu Maori
Girls’ College, a residential school for young Maori women. In 1926, the
college moved to Christchurch and the building became a private residence.
St Albans celebrated its centennial in 1982.

St Albans is named after the Roman soldier who was born at Verulamium in
the latter part of the third century. He embraced Christianity, and became a
renowned teacher, subsequently suffering martyrdom for his faith.

You have to look "Beyond the mound" to find the next one
