Today I went to the cinema and saw the latest Terminator Salvation. Quite good actually. I recommend to the ones who seek for "lots of metal", "lots of mechanical", "lots of guns and bullets" and "high speed" action.
Highly not recommended for romantic/ drama seeker. In another words, it's not a very good dating movie, hence I went alone (alone was alright. There were about 12 people in the cinema including me because it was in the morning etc).

I won't say anyting about the movie, because I might spoil the fun.

Good movie. I rate 7/10.

P.S. A massive LOL at Arnie

I was going to watch one or two on the flight to/from Adelaide last weekend, but I couldn't muster up enough interest. I'm glad I didn't - I finished the fat book I was reading and gave it to the vifferbabe (who was too busy chatting to the flight attendant to read it), then listened to some CDs I'd have missed out on otherwise.
I enjoyed them so much, I scribbled down the details on my bookmark, and had a hunt for the titles in some record stores in Adelaide - no luck! :(
Checked JB Hifi's substantial collection (they were in stock in Albania, but strangely not in the Adelaide store), then thought I'd 'waste my time' by checking the Warewhare for what I thought were semi-esoteric albums, and was surprised to find them! Saved about $15. :niceone:

Hey EJK, Yeah, I went and saw this yesterday too. Similar impressions. I didn't know Arnie was going to make a cameo, I got a big surprise, followed by shock, followed by lols. I went alone too, but not for the reasons you gave. In my case it was just cos I couldn't find anyone to go with me to a movie at 2pm on a Thursday afternoon on the spur of the moment.
I like all the Terminator movies, as well as TSCC as well, so I enjoyed it: although some parts are just horribly corny.

Disclaimer: I am a Star Trek fan (well, original series, even numbered movies, select DS9, TNG not so much Voyager or Enterprise)

the new Star Trek rules. Go see it even if you arent a fan. You dont need to know anything about TOS, Star Trek canon, be a fan of the Shat*, know anything about the Star Trek universe or anything. The movie flat out works. Its the only film since Serenity I have paid money to see more than once at the pictures.

If you ARE a fan, there are a bunch of throws to TOS stuff to keep you entertained, enough backstory to keep you amused, and a plausible** explanation as to why things arent like they used to be in the '60's.

GO SEE IT, its worth paying the money to see it on the big screen.

Mate, it has, high in the mountains of Norway, a band of young medical students getting their shit ruined by zombies. And not just any old zombies - these are Nazi zombies.

Perfect blend of horror and humour - hell I was sold the instant I saw one of the characters was wearing a Braindead shirt. And if you haven't seen Braindead then you are in no place to comment on films (being ye olde Peter Jackson's best film to date.)

Saw Terminator Salvation tonight. Enjoyed it.
They have left it open for one more flick to complete the full cycle i.e. to when Connor sends Reece back to 1984 and when the Arnie Terminator kills Connor (as Arnie told Connor in T3 that he kills him in the future). If they do make one more I wont complain. Pass the popcorn.

I liked some of the connections made to T1, like how Adult Connor shown in T1 came to get that scare across his cheek. Yeah, and Arnie's still commands a strong presence when he makes an entrance. So pleased they snuck him in.

Someone help me identify a movie.

OK. It's a horror movie. It involves zombies but it's not ALL about zombies. The movies got to do with like... Jesus's blood and devil thing.

The set is inside a big big rusty wooden house I think, and some zombies and a devil guy in a human form walks around killing survivors, which one of them is a blood heir to Jesus? I don't know.

There's one scene where a two big black couple, one was a cop I think, blows up himself and his spouse with a vest dangling with grenades, killing incoming zombies.

The ONLY quote I remember from the movie is "Sorry I lied" by the satan guy.

There was one scene where the satan dude temptates an old man with visionary half naked women and his lost arm (Yes the old man didn't have an arm).

The very last end bit of the movie gets really weird. A doll-ish devil thing (similar to Jigsaw Doll on Saw series) rides a limousine to some place and get's his head chopped off.

Someone please PLEASE identify this movie for me. I don't think it's one of Rob Zombie's movie.

I saw GIJOE today. It was alright, I liked it. Personally I liked it better than Transformers 2 even though they are both kids movie made with serious budget.

The movie wasn't too long, however it was packed with action: Explosion, laser and fire. Apart from actors running around with toy guns and in plastic doll suit (which was made quite well), The movie did well to impress.

I would definitely rent and watch it again when it comes out on DVD.

I rate 4 out of 5.

Love the Beast staring Eric Bana - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1284028/

This movie is based around Erics love affair with his Ford GT Falcon Coup, its a bit of a doco movie,

He brought the car when was 15 and has owned it over 25 years. Then raced it in the Targa Tasmania, after some work (over 500hp)

He chatted to Jay Leno, Jermery Clarkson thru the movie, about how cars make people feel, and how many people don't get it. Many of the things they talked about can relate back to some motorcyclist and there bikes.

What i found interest is how he felt after seeing the car after he had an accident in it, and how much it tore him up, that he had ruined his car, but he was perfectly fine. And wished he had broken his legs or arm or something.

4.5 stars out of 5

Before I start, let me tell you I'm a big fan of Alien Quadriology. I'm some percent drama watcher, however I'm a big big fan of action movie. That's where I stand and where I view, so bottom words maybe biased.

District 9
Anyhow, the movie was very impressive. Mixture of CCTV, Handcam, TV News and normal movie camera, the film (camera) environment was well balanced (Peter Jackson's "new" thing. It worked well). It was like Blair Witch, Resident Evil, Cloverfield and Earthlings (documentary) all combined into one fine mixture.

The movie District 9 is definitely not for children. Theres not much horror scene however there are a few gruesome moments. For example; lots and lots of exploding humans, robot with wicked weapons and some "sexual reference" :pinch:

The storyline of the movie was very unusual. If we think of an alien/ extra territorial movie, we think of them invading and then mass murdering human beings. Well... this movie is abit different. It's got nice drama aswell. Some might hate it but some might love it.

Personally I recommend the movie. So far, it's the most dramatic (In a nice way) alien/ extra territorial movie I've ever seen (E.T. sucks in comparison). I would definitely, definitely hire out when it comes out on DVD.

Jonno.

Just saw the movie and what can I say. Most Excellent.

OK there are many movies like it. When people see this movie's trailer, they may think "Aah it's just another end-of-the-world movie". Well hello, yes it is.
However when the XBOX360 game Halo 3 came out, people didn't prejudical about and said "Aaah it's just another Halo game". So why should they for this movie? It's been directed by the same guy who directed Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow. But the movie is only "upgraded" hence better.

I'll sum it all up.

Recipe of making 2012

1. Explosion
There are many spectacular movies out there. For example, Dantes Peak. But through out the movie, only some parts were exciting wasn't it? Like the scene where the mountain blows up or where the granny's leg gets burnt by the acid lake.
Well, take those scenes and make them better. More explosion, more details, more sound, and more ENERGY.

2. More action & detail
Now, lets take a look at the movie Titanic. But also only some part were very exciting, putting you on to the edge of your seat (I'm not talking about Jack drawing titties or the love making scene. I'm talking about the collision and the sinking scene). Well take that scene and make it better. Bigger boat, bigger wave, bigger sound, more falling obstacles and more people.
Oh, add the Poseidon movie's ship rolling over scene too.

3. Thrill
And now, add up Armageddon and Deep Impact. Blend those two nicely and squeeze out the BEST juice out of them. The thrills, collision waiting to happen, the drama and big mechanisms, explosion and the climax-is-going-to-happen-in-40-minutes thrillism.

Add ALL of the only best bits of elements above I mentioned, and make them even better.

4. Drama and plot
Now take that mixture and add hint of Shindler's List.

.....and make it BETTER. Then you get the movie "2012".

With no dobut, I give 10/10.

Further note: The movie is just so finely detailed. Every disaster scene is so epic (has excellent in-depth of field work done). When you get to watch this movie, either watch it in a big cinema with a big screen or with a big plasma/LCD screen TV. Orelse you'll miss all the small bits and pieces of action that occurs during the destruction scenes (such as subway trains poping out from the ground when the earth "crust" is lifted or every single people on the motorway falling off when the road collapses).
And lastly, Arnie is in the movie.

If you liked the scene where some small meteorites hitting New York in the Armageddon, like's hundreds of buildings collapsing like Jenga™, or just obsessed with anything that's higly destructive, I HIGHLY recommend you this movie. It's about 2 hours and 40 minutes long but it's not as boring as the Lord Of The Rings: Triology. Trust me.

The dialogue and the acting is incredible. I can see why Christoph Waltz (Col. Hans Landa aka The Jew Hunter) won best actor at the Cannes Film Festival, simply great.

Tarantino redeemed himself after the two stinkers Deathproof and Planet Terror.

10/10

2012 is officially the WORST movie I have ever seen, cheesiest scenes ,crap dialogue etc etc I should have walked out, clapped those that did... but I just couldn't stop watching. How in hell did they get the funding to produce it!!

Remember....

Friends don't let friends watch 2012.

2012 was an fun rollercoaster ride of a movie, especially on the big screen with decent sound. But the plot was complete and utter bog-shite.

I dunno if it's been mentioned, but Valkarie is pretty good. I loathe Tom Cruise, but this movie is great.

Haha Have not seen either of them so can't pass judgement.

I just think 2012 is a shite movie where you can disengage your brain as soon as you take a seat, they then try and force over the top action down your throat for nearly three hours.

Now don't get me wrong I like action movies but come on! Limousines jumping canyons, oh and motorhomes jumping canyons, planes flying UNDER trains and planes narrowly flying between buildings and if they are driving anything on land then the earth MUST be giving way just behind them at all times, its just seemed all forced and obviously made for the American market.

People in the theatre were laughing AT the movie, not because of it.

Look if your 13 or 14 or something and you like action JUST BECAUSE its action, you will love it. If you like that sort of thing then I suggest XXX or whatever that movie is because that guy can out ski avalanches!!

Oh and movies I like Inglorious Basterds was brilliant and The Usual Suspects is up there.

How could you compare XXX and 2012? And what part of Science Fiction do you not understand?

Fair enough, not everyone can like the movie. I get your point.

I had major issues with that movie. The story itself was good, however, German SS officers, Nazi party members and even Hitler with American accents??? Nup, they could've at least tried. America, Fuck Yeah.

Well.........the SS officers etc did'nt exactly speak English with a German accent amoungst themselves in conversation either!

No I'm sure they didn't and I personally would've been happier watching it with English subtitles while the actors spoke German, than listen to American accents on Nazis.
Like I said, good movie aside from that though.
The boy in the striped pajamas is well worth a watch too.
