Heading to work yesterday as usual 8am nice bright sunny morning, noticed there had been a hard frost but the roads were dry and perfect for riding.
Started to head through the Hunua Gorge doing my usual speeds through the nice clean dry corners, UNTIL....
I came round a nice tight right hander and BANG helmet full of road... I had hit some black ice... in Auckland WTF?
Was loaded into an ambulance and taken to hospital with bruising and feeling like a right idiot.
going to look at the bike today had Haldanes call me this morning to see if im ok! what a lovely bunch of guys.
now starts the headache of insurance claims.

stay safe out there guys

Crikey, got to cut out that fun stuff okay? :pinch: Glad to hear your helmet did its job and you are able to post away without too much trauma. Another timely reminder about riding to the conditions and wearing the gear.

Piccies?

Hey, sorry to hear about the bin. The Hunua gorge road is terrible, even in the dry. Take care, hope you get the bike back soon.

That sucks dude ... but that black ice .. it can be anywhere ... even Jaffa Land ... hope you're doing OK, and depending on the bike, let's hope it's a write off and you can get a brand spanking new one! Then again, then you have to ride slow and break it in for a while ...hmmm ... I dunno! Hope it's all good either way ...

had a look at the bike WOW naked bikes crash well! I was surprised at the lack of damage considering how hard I went down.

the muffler is totalled scratched to hell, dent in the tank from flying mirror, the right hand fork is scrapped up, missing the mirror, and broken foot break.
everything else is intact and fine apart from scratches on my bar end and scratches to the break lever how it didnt snap off ill never know.

will be assessed on monday but at this stage approx $4000 damage

Ouch 5 weeks without pay is going to make paying the excess hard.:eek5: Can you get copies from the hospital you went to? ACC surely can do better.Camp out on their doorstep.

so yesterday i picked up the grim reaper expecting the worst and hoping for the best.... (crashed bikes never feel like they did before you crashed)
and OH MY GOD went for a ride this morning and YAY Haldanes pat on the back for you! she is awesome, she feels like new again! my nerves and confidence are a little twitchy and bruised and after 3 months of using Big Dogs little Gordon the mighty scooter my flow isnt there yet.. but with spring and summer approaching alot of KM are going to be had!

Im so excited!!! shame i have to go to work this afternoon...
