........I bloody loved it.

04 XB12R.
Hopped on it and felt at home straight away, fitted like a glove.
I'm only 5''7 and my R foot was flat footed on the ground.
Only had a short ride, but it felt comfy and had a real world power spread that I reckon I could live with.

I must admit it surprised me, dunno why, just never thought something like that was me, despite me actually liking the look of them.

Dunno whether I could have a Harley in the shed tho.........the other bikes might get pissed off.........:msn-wink::lol:

I am 6' 1" and sat on one at AMPS. I found it too small and cramped and declined a test ride. The wheel base looks too short and it felt as though it would topple over.

Good to hear positive feedback for a Buell.

Bit of an anti climax after the sexy xb12r:nono:
I wouldn't mind an xb myself but I think there are other ways to spend my money and get hard. Good to hear I can fit on one though, seems 5ft 9 is too short for most sporting machines now:doh:

You must be looking at it from the wrong angle.

Yeah, and despite all the twins out there these days, the Ducati still sounds the best IMO, but mind you they're classed as a L twin eh.
I swapped my carbon Remus low cans off my Ducati for Arrow carbon cans with high rise pipes yesterday, which I gutted all the internals, and it sounds soooooooo sweet now. Noisey, but who cares..........

I rode a mates XB12 the other day too, funnily enough....

I liked it !! Doesnt have acceleration of the R6 (or the deceleration of going down a gear & no brakes into the corner), byt otherwise I was impressed with its easy rideability & rider position,& the nice torque of powering out a corner...flickable as fark . Silky smooth gear box too.
Only thing i didnt like was his farked front rotor, which was so bad I used the rear only as it felt like it'd tip me over the front if I was to hard on it.
Rode it pretty hard up the Buller & it was great fun.
Only other downer was his suspension setup....He's the same weight/size as me & it made me realize that thers a lot of folk who never get thier heads around setting a bike up for themselves...was skippin & wallowing around...the first thing he said after riding my bike was "Do you think theres sumthing wrong with my suspension" !!
Was all in all, a nice bike ...a well set up one would certainly "huss" along well.
I rate them....

I'm that hight+ and found a Buell no problem for me, maybe not the same model but still OK.

I have ridden a few bikes lately and one was a Multistrada, nice bike. To me the Buell was smoother and the handling ooow. OK I ride softail so there is a big difference. I'm so impressd I may buy one. Cant trade my Deuce though as that is Art and should be in my lounge when not bein ridden. Goin to see the nice lady at the bank ASAP.
The Ulysses just rocks. When I sat on it I thought same as the other 6' guy, no way is this goin to work. Ride it you will be blown away. It fits like a glove with room to move and the linear useable power is just great. No snatchy power like my old GPZ just smooth and after riding the Softail, think about turning the XB and its doin it. My mate told me years back to ride one and I didn't take any notice. He loves the Firebolt. I am not a serious everyday biker but the XB is the best bike I have ever ridden. The front wheel is telling you. You can lift me up any time you want. Converted and kinda have permission from the cook.
Its a done deal. Whose got a good one for sale......:woohoo:

There's a couple of good one's at WMC right now

By a strange coincidence, I too have just ridden a brand new 09 XB12 this very evening. I'd had a crack at the 08 as well and really liked it, but as mentioned the suspension set up was outrageous and nearly flicked me off a couple of times. I gave it a tweak as per the manual and it was much better.

The 09 I've just ridden was way better behaved, mainly because it had been set up properly. Being a new bike the gearbox is still very tight which was kind of interesting. I love the run in procedure. Don't go above 4000 rpm for the first 200 miles and not above 5000 until 500. Geez, I wish the Triumph had been that easy............

Show off,how long till first service due, this weekend?

8th September 2009, 22:22
First service due at 1600 km's. These things are tough, and seeing as the first one did 20000 km's in it's first year it shouldn't take long at all.

Yep, that's right - V-fours are the way to go. All the benefits of the v-twins (slim width, nicely spaced power pulses, nice torque curve, gorgeous exhaust note) with all the benefits of an inline four. :niceone:

Went to the Harley "Test Our Metal" demo days today. Rode 2 Buells(XB12R and 1125CR) and 2 Harleys (Nightster and Night Rod Special.) To be honest, I wouldn't give my bike up for any of the 4.

The 12R was like a giant vibrator, sitting at idle, the ridiculous rubber side mirror were going crazy. It had the weirdest engine, only a 5 speed, and I didn't use 4th or 5th gear once. Redlined at I think only 8000 rpms. Had a nice amount of low end torque :D

The CR felt pretty bulky, and I had to twist extra hard on the throttle to get it moving. It seemed to give a lot of wrist resistance. The shifter felt very good, and it sounded pretty good but damn is this bike ever fugly :P

The Nighster was very boring to ride. Slow, and felt too light to be a Harley haha. I could flat foot it, which is amazing as I have short legs (5'6). I don't see how a big guy could fit on it, as it seemed to be the perfect size for me.

The Night Rod was a lot different than I expected. I could almost flat foot it, but I could barely reach the pedals. I had to use the tip of my toes to shift and brake, it was the most uncomfortable bike of the 4. The engine was nice once you got high in the rev band, but the bike did not want to turn. I can only imagine what extended forks would be like.

Buuulllsshhit....nothing sounds like a v-twin.Didn't someone commission a study on this? I think the result was something along the lines of 'A vtwin resonates with the human body in some sort of complimentary fashion which is why they always feel the best to ride, the HD layout being the best of all in this respect'... I think it was basically geek speak for vtwins do indeed sound the best, and here's why...
