If it was actually a camera van it was probably one of the new face lifted Toyota Previa's the :Police: have purchased: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/road-safety/news/article.cfm?c_id=308&objectid=10561616
These are being gradually phased in to replace the ageing fleet of Mitsy L300's they've been using.
Not aware of any purchases of Hyundai's unless this one is an isolated case 'on test'

I believe they have changed to K band in the vans.
I had to alter my V1 to cover K band which now picks up electric doors etc which is a pain, but thats the price we pay to cover our arses. Gaz.

It was definitely a Hyundai and it was definitely a speed camera van. I got to have a second look when I turned around came back down due to the road being closed.

Yeah, I remember reading that the new units were K band somewhere, but can't find the article right now. These are the units/company that supplies them though: http://www.redflex.com/html/global/prd_M_Speed.html
EDIT: Ah, here's some more info here: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=1129198224 Sounds like it's K band 24.100 Ghz :)

I dont belive they do.
However dont quote me on that. Cuz you might get snapped.
Only one real way to find out. and thats to take a number plate off and race past one at night time... since youll see the flash and all.

OK, reason I ask is I saw a similar van at Waitoa couple of weeks ago, and it didnt set off Ka band... I've been waiting to see a new van, activate K band and try again.... Was in too much of a hurry to turn round.
I suppose I could just turn the "K" on, and listen to all the false alarms...:(

In most countries, the kind of pratices undertaken by the police invovling hidden cameras is illegal because it constitutes entrapment. Pigs rule this country.

In this country, half the time it's the pigs doing the crime!!!

Correct. Just do it. K-band is being used now. I did a double drive by on a parked unit to test it out.
