What an awesome day.
Could have been a smidgen betterer, that would have included another trek around the track.

Other wise, the bucket was ok, I felt that my or the bike was off the pace a bit, a poor start in the first race, a little better in the second, was holding off LilM for while, till the red thing slipped on by, GOOD ON YA, but bugger!!!

The Post Classic on the other hand, I felt best on, had a good time, and feel like I am doing better on it, getting it more right with rev's and right gear mix. And the bonus is that it makes my body feel less "Lead Weight" like than on the bucket.

Oh well, in another month'ish I will do it all again, see ya there.

7th June 2009, 20:34
Yeah it was a good day. Don't forget the day was shortened due to a few crashes requiring ambo's and cleanup. I heard a rumour that they had to call it earlier than expected as the ambulance was off site.

My bucket ran like a festering pile of poo with the GN250 carb on. It had awesome mid range and litterally nothing at either end- serves me right, I didn't do any testing. Apparently its a very easy fix.

Had fun on the Monster, but was not exactly where I'd like to be. Did ok considering how chronic my nerves were - this was my first meeting since a pretty decent crash a bit over 3 months ago

Huh?:banana: Awesome day and fun, even if I did run out brakes on lap 1 of the second race. The hairpin with no front brake was interesting! Pottered around near the back (wot's new) for a valuable point. Cheers.

Cheers, nice to meet you too. I'm starting to put a few names and faces together. Thats half the fun of the day, meeting people and having a yak.

I had an awsome day, have no idea where I actually got in the races.
But TP went the best it has ever gone for me, only came close to binning it once. Another race would have been good. As TP is a 1980 bike is there any reason why I couldn't go off the back of the post classic's with it?
Just a thought, for a bit more track time next time.

One thing has me scratching my head:scratch: But its a good thing. We're in a recession, moneys tight bla bla bla, so can someone explain to me why the number of BEARS bikes has gone up significantly?? I would say F1/F2 has increased by half. Not only that, but some of the new bikes that turned up were worth a fair wad of cash- there was an MV (actually think I saw two), an RSV R factory, another RSV of unconfirmed type, an 8 valve monster with ohlins bits, a couple or three new 675's and a few other tasty bikes I hadn't seen before.

Any theories?

Everyone says that money is tight and there is a big recession on blah blah blah... But I reckon it means sfa for bike racing in general. Bike numbers for nationals are down, not because of the "economic downturn" but because of poor management and advertisement along with a few other factors.

Instead of shelling out for that $100K boat, $20-30K would be easier to get pass the missus?

OHHH... they always have an excuse to finish early, all they wana do is get to the pub. (there were 2 ambos on site at the end of the day)

yeah a fun but bloody cold day, so I decided after the 1st PC82 race were I managed a 3rd Id start of last and play catch up... the track was to cold to go hard (the amount of accos showed that)
If buckets, I have no idea were I came... dont care as long as I have someone to toy with.

No I'd say you were right- it was an unconfirmed sighting.

I went out to Ruapuna for a Friday arvo session on May 29- there was a guy with a red 848 there. I wonder if its in that pic? I was very nervous about passing him, didn't want to assist in messing up such a nice bike....

that will learn me for rebuilding a hot engine and selling it aye, the only mod cmac has done is the exhaust, and he says it has made a mid range differance.

Thanks guys, you've made my day (week? year?).
There was one other thing that I did to the bike - I couldn't balance the carbs ... took the inlet manifolds off to find that one of the O rings was split which explained why one cylinder was running really lean, new O ring and :niceone:.

I think I learned at lot from racing in the wet - got a feel for how far I could let it move around.

By the way, Mary-Lou has sent me the placings for the races - I've found quite a few anomalies with the numbers taken down by the lap scorers - lots of 'magic' bikes that keep changing their numbers during the race! I have just about sorted them out and will send to Mary-Lou when I've finished so that she can get them onto the BMRC site.

Yeah I've always thought a way to help the point scorer get the results more accurate (cause without transponders it's a nightmare to try get it 100% correct) would be to have a clipboard somewhere in the pits and after every race the riders go and write down where they finished. With the bucketeers I think everyone is pretty honest and if you got half a dozen people spread through the field I bet you could get the first 10-15 places sorted within 10 mins of the race finishing!

Hey, why not just sit in the pits and decide where we are likely to finish BEFORE the race and just put that in, seeing we are all so honest? :Police:
Save on wear and tear on the bikes and bodies too!

The problem is that the lap scorer(s) have a problem reading the numbers. If you look at the lap by lap placings, it is very obvious that they are getting it wrong. This has made it obvious to me that my numbers need to be a lot clearer than they are. How about a camcorder on the finish line - that would get most of them.

very few bikes have regulation size number boards and numbers, if they did the problem would go away

If the scrutineers checked the number boards for correct size 1/2 the field would get the arse

If the scrutineers checked the number boards for correct size 1/2 the field would get the arse I don't think that is the whole answer although there are some that are a bit confusing/not clear/wrong colours etc but I think the majority are not too bad. My numbers are clear, white on black and nothing else around them, but I still got recorded with less points for the first race than somebody I finished ahead of. Not a big deal as I'll never be at the sharp end but it's nice to collect wot you're due for bragging rights  http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=130107&d=1243158570
