I can see it now... your beloved walks in and sees you playing the Sims, gently enbraces you from behind, lifting you from your seat and turning you into her arms.

As she rests her hands on your shoulders, she leans in so close you can feel the warmth of her breath on your neck and she whispers those three little words in your ear

..."get a life"...

urgh.

It's been bad enough at home. Kids aged 8, 9, 11.

Each with their own PC.

Each playing SIMS2.

I'm not ready for this.

at least the 4 year old isn't interested in SIMS.

yet...

I've taken action. H.A.W.X. has been loaded on the eldest boy's PC. We'll wean at least one of them off SIMS yet.

Yeah it's not too bad eh, life goals and shit, enough crap going on to keep you occupied for awhile. I still feel that's it lacking 'something'.

Probably motorbikes, but you know.

Very Dropship-esque, and an almost exact copy of Ace Combat on PS1, but with far, far better graphics.
Don't forget to load up UT3 :niceone:

Yup. He's thrashing it now.

As far as Unreal Tournament goes though, the Inhouse Computer Censorship committee have strict rules on what 8 and 9 year old boys can play, and she don't accept that program meets the criteria.

Of course, it's on my games PC out in the sleepout though...

My Daughter's bought Sims3. Three damn PCs in the house and none will run it. It locks up after a few minutes playing.

Can someone confirm my doubts that we need to buy yet another pc.
Sims3 requires a CPU with 2.0GHz processor. Our PC used for the Kids games has 1.79 GHz and another PC has 1.60 GBhz (both Compaq Presario). We have an Apple iBook G4 that I can't figure out what it's CPU stats are.
Sims3 requires for windows XP 1GB RAM. Ours has 704MB of RAM (is this enough?) on our 'games PC' and 1.0GB on the other.

Is it worth getting Geeks on Wheels out to try and úpgrade'a PC or is it a case of CPU speeds (the GHz thingy) can't be increased.
Cheers

yip, sounds like you need a new one, on the plus side though, games arent really getting more complicated now, so the next one should last for a good while

Hey thanks for that.

If you need a hand pricing up some stuff and buying the pieces seperately, I'm sure there are some computer nuts here willing to save you a few dollars!

Pre-builts tend to cost around 30-50% more, especially from Dell, Acer etc.

Build it yourself.

I built my rig a year ago for $1200 (excluding monitor as i had one before)

Still a great box now, might want a new graphics card towards the end of the year.

Plenty of guys here that can/will help

I'd disagree with the above statement

If the PC is less than 2 Ghz then don't bother upgrading it as your power supply probably aint big enough, your RAM probably aint fast enough, your hard drive probably aint big enough or fast enough, etc etc. By the time you pay labour you'll save nothing. Sell the existing PC or keep it for earlier games, surfing the net etc.

Spend some biccies on a branded PC. I see botched DIY PC's all the time. You won't save any money with a DIY build and you'll have a much harder time dealing with warranty issues. HP/Compaq Presario are pretty good value at the moment. Get a dual core processor (AMD or Intel) as a minimum (but avoid anything with the words Celeron or Atom). Acer are the cheapest for a reason (read in to that what you will).

Add better video card (you can easily do that yourself), extra RAM etc as and when required.

Not a bad deal, to be honest. Just hope the mobo supports a bit of FSB freedom
Throw in a 4770 for a bit of oomph, and being awfully cheap.
I was more or less referring to the likes of Bond&bond, DSE and other such stores that somehow sell them.
