Hi all

Have an 07 300exc which currently has a 14 - 50 gearing

when they are due i am thinking of getting a 13 for the front.

what are your opinions? is 13 - 50 they way to go?
or 13 - 48??

at the moment with 14 - 50 its doing over 140km\h!
dont really need this

cheers

on my old 2005 300 i was running 13/52. then changed to 14/52. good for the forest but lacked top speed on the open rides.

Lucky you've got 6 gears then. You do have 6 gears?

The best option is to have both a 13 and a 14 tooth on hand to try out - front sprokets are cheap enough.

I do this on my KTMs - I've found in very general terms that going between a 13 and a 14 tends to "split" gears - for example, when going from a 13 to a 14, second gear ends up roughly in between where second and third were with the 13.

Make sure when you replace your chain/sprockets, when you cut the chain to length, that you leave enough travel on the adjuster to accommodate both sprockets. You should be able to swap sprockets without removing the chain and rear wheel. All you need to do is readjust the chain.

The 300 is a 5 speed.

was just discussing the same thing for dads 350f.
if you put a 13 tooth on the front it will make the bike more aggressive and require more throttle control, it will want to wheel stand a lot more, not necessarily a bad thing tho. basically it will make the bike more responsive with a 13 tooth front wheras the 14 smoothes it out more. btw $30 for a 13 tooth front from triple x moto
