Time to get on the track instead of all that excitement on the open road..

Puke is open to the general mugs on 26th March. THIS IS NOT A KB ARRANGED EVENT.

I've been waiting since I first got this bike to get it on the track, and the last time I was there on my CBR250RR I learnt a heap too... So, who else is up for it? There is a thread by Spank for who's attending (assuming Spank is going to, that's a whole 3 of us..) here:
http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&day=2005-3-26&c=

So since that's done, I thought about getting a cruise together for getting there.. The day is 10:30 til about 4 ish and empty your pocket of $80, I'm not there all day, but I will be there for the start..

I propose then, meeting at Cyclespot on Barry's point around 9am, onto Mt Welly Caltex around 9:30, getting to Paps SP for around 10, then onto Puke track around 10:20. Times are to leave around then, so that we all don't pile to the track too late.

I'm thinking that they should run 2 bike sessions as the last time I was there, it was getting dangerous cos the 150s and 250s were getting in the way of the pros on the thous.. A few people were going to have a word to the organisers to see what can be done. I haven't heard anything else yet, so be prepared that it's mixed. If there's enough, then something might be done about it.

You need full gear (leather or cordora (whatever)) and altho they don't check very well, your bike needs to be up to scratch..

So, who am I meeting where, or am I all alone....??

I'll be there. The Pukekohe website says it is now $90 so make sure you bring extra.
I wouldn't count on 2 bike classes either but worth a try!

Yep, price has hiked up by 10 more dollars for the extra excitment that you now get from the additional speed bumps on the track.

thought it might have been that..
what about if you ride round those parts? Still have to pay the extra?
Is the track any better than before they pulled it apart? almost like a giant scalectric!

Castrol is mint as now, keep it really tight through Jennian (turn 1) and turn 7 (the left before the hill) and you wont feel any bumps :niceone:

hate Jennian. You miss the turn in point, yer screwed. I mucked that up a few times on the CBR250 and shat myself, not looking forward to doing the same on the 636. There was a patch of concrete that I used as a marker. Hopefully it's still there.. Quite like Castrol, and the S's. That bump on 7 always shocked me that the tyres still gripped after such a jolt.. Kinda glad it's gone. I've been told they've 'repaved' the racing line thru 7 and 8 onto the s/f straight.. I'mm gonna be taking it easy for a bit round there.. Please don't swipe me..

Jennian is mint man, other than the new speed bump running half way through it, it's mint. All you do is enter it wide, stick tight then stay tight or run wide to the middle of the track for the next left hander.

With some sticky tires and a good line on a 600cc, you can never go in too hot, just make sure you don't panic and always know that you can make it through if you stay calm and cool and have the gas on while keeping the lean.

new speed bump? great.
Tyres should be ok. Brand new one on the back, so no doubt there.. Hopefully if you're there and unfortunate to get stuck behind me, may be you could throw me some pointers going thru there.. On the CBR I used to knock into 5th and go hard, run semi-wide but try to keep it right for the S's. I just hate the idea of running wide into the marbles, cos I can't see me coming out of there at the same speed.. or even on the rubber come to think of it :spudwave: bike..
Only takes half a second to miss the turn in point, and it could be over. Don't know for sure, cos haven't had the misfortune. Don't want to know..

Weather here is looking good. The forecast has gone from rain to occasional showers so here's hoping. Imagaine if the track was really quiet and we had it all to ourselves, and the weather was perfect.......
