Hey all,
Just thought i'd throw a quick note out there.
After my crash at Ruapuna in January I have been off a bike, on the spur of the moment yesterday I got offered a ride on a stock Triumph 675 at the BEARS meeting at Ruapuna.
I wasn't sure if I would be ready to ride again, so I was a bit aprehensive before the practice. I got out and felt ok though, passed a few bikes. I was aiming to help a mate out with his suspension, he was 'a bit lost' with it, and the bike didn't feel to flash in the practice. I made a few changes and got it all tightened back up in time for the first race.
I started on the second row with the mindset of just 'going for a ride and thinking about the suspension'. That went out the window with the flag drop LOL. I got a good launch and was second around pothole (where I jumped off in January) and passed for the lead into the hairpin. I led the rest of the race to the flag.
In race two I got another decent launch, and lead into the hairpin again. Dan Ormsby (sp? sorry Dan) passed me at the end of the second lap, but missed a gear and allowed me to outbrake him halfway round the third lap. I muffed up the exit though, and he came back around me. I followed him to the flag from there.
So a win and a second for my first go back after 4 months off and an injury on an unknown stock bike with five laps practice...I'm blowing my own horn I know but I'm STOKED to know that I don't have a problem on a bike, and can still ride like I did before :D

We don't have one at this stage. I need to get back to even money-wise after the last season, and then we can make a plan...but for now, I don't know what could/may happen for next year.

Thats fantastic news to hear Jay and Congratulations to you on doing so well after your come back from your big off. It takes alot of gutts and determination to get back out there after what you have been thru. I am just sorry that you wont be racing in our VMCC Winter Series this year but hopefully 1 day in the near future you will be back on the North Island kicking some butt like you use too. Goodluck with it all Jay. Cheers (Skip) :2thumbsup

Nope, was Robins one, he won KOR Clubmans on it last year.

Yeah, they go alright ;) I had no problems. Still not full strenth in the bad arm but not too bad. I only noticed when I took my clutch hand off the bars to do something and couldn't steer to well through the kinks. Stamina fitness no problem.

I'm sure Jay will be ok with me answering on his behalf.
Though it's cold as hell down here... we are both loving Christchurch and are settling in nicely. We miss our North Island friends but are making lots of friends down here too.

I was on Robin's (or Possum depending on how you know him) bog stock 675, the blue one with the road fairings and taped over headlight, number 14.

Bloody top effort Jay!!!! Good to see your confidence hasn't been affected by your off. It's an addictive sport and I know what you mean about wanting to get on a bike again...I was in hospital after my big off looking at Trademe for my next ride...this was before I was able to walk properly again (much to my mother's disgust! hehehe)
