That was the defining moment of 'Bart Syndrome'

the oxford dictionary defines Bart's Syndrome as:
"An unthinking reflex reaction resulting in a throttle twisting spasm (occasionally preceded by a downshift) immediately after a camera is sighted - the spasm is generally more intense if the camera is in video mode "

it also notes: "Bart's Syndrome should not be confused with the somewhat similar "Tossers Syndrome" which is experienced universally by DR650 riders.

Marks, Are people born with tossers syndrome or can it be caught?, and is it curable, cureable, can you get better?

Some people are born with the inclination to "Tossers Syndrome" but it often doesn't become fully blown until they buy their first DR650.

It can be cured - with a fairly high success rate - provided the sufferer buys a KLR. The results of this are certainly clear as I've never met a Tosser who rides a KLR - clearly a completely opposite result to those who ride DR650's

To be specific - DR riders have a variation of Tossers Syndrome called low level TS. Often the syndrome progresses when they sell the DR and buy a KTM - and then develop the full blown version of High Level Tossers Syndrome - a variation of HLTS often affects gay people who feel compelled to buy BMW's.

so the only way to make sure you are not a Tosser is to buy a KLR :niceone:

Silly. You don't take a photo with them.

You stick them in the spokes of a passing bike and then take a photo.

They're no good as suspension.

I'm down to just the essential 3 cameras now.
Canon 20D dSLR for good shots.
Olympus 10m waterproof thingy for normal shots.
Panasonic 1.5m waterproof video camera for motion shots.

Cash n Trade in Richmond have quite a few cameras though.

You complete and utter quick-on-the-draw-camera barstard! ;)

For the record: It was NOT a crash, i was staionary & i went to put my right foot down and my trousers got hooked up in the goddam spikey swivel pegs! By the time I got leg off pegs all i had time for was holding the bike for a gentle lay down!
Actually that sounds even more pathetic than if I'd crashed!

Still it straightened the bars back up a bit! Barely out of line again now!

silly thing is - a quoted image will have already been downloaded and cached in the users browser thereby not disadvantaging our banjo playing dial up using brethren.

I'm told quoting an embedded image is a no-no.I know what the rules say, but it should only be an infraction if you quote an entire lengthy post, rather than just one bit for context - whether it is an image is irrelevant. Quoting just one image shouldn't be an infraction, whereas quoting all the text should be.

Yep, it sure is shiny! Covers the oil cooler, filter and bottom of engine. Only aspect I'm a little nervous of is the front attachment: basically a bracket off the exhaust manifold and oil cooler mount. That's why the idea of an actual 'bash' on this plate fills me with dread...

ive looked at your pic and is one mount fixed to frame on the left hand side of the bike. if you where sitting on it.

whats the other mount fitted to.

or i would look in to makeing a plate same width of new bash plate.
but only getting it miged to the right hand side of the join in the black bar.
and then mounting the top fittings on bash plate to the new piece.
ive drawn my idea in white.

snodpete
21st June 2009, 22:00
The 'plate mounts to the centre stand attachments via a custom bracket at the back - nice and solid, can be used with or without centre stand and is independent of the engine. I like your suggestion for the front mount mod, might look into that when I find a bike-friendly engineer type.

Cheers for the ideas!

In the forest part of the Munga's

I was part way up a very greasy hill and stalled - what doesn't keep going up soon comes down down down....

twas the greasiest I've ever seen - Glen had 6 or so offs (I was waiting for him to come back and help me as the bike was jammed but he was stuck further up the hill) and I had 3-5.

And Glen had a flat....

me thinks he tried to get over that huge log laying by the bike.

I did go over the log - I just wasnt attached to the bike at that stage...

What "huge" Log? Oh you mean the twig?

Actually half of the logs in the forest are so rotten that you go to ride over them and there isn't even a bump. Glen rode my WR into a large tree stump and the stump just distinergrated on impact - looked really cool.
