Full respect to that dog, umm is it training or for real, that looks like security cam footage and the alleged offender did not look padded up.

There's a couple of 'puffs' just prior to the dog jumping so I'm picking it's for real.

The guy looks pretty padded to me (could just be fat) and could possibly be blanks? Training the dog to ignore gunshots?
Padding or not, stuff being that guy, that dog was flying for a second there...

The yank cops have been trialling high jumping attack deer instead of dogs to stop the bad guys, with limited success.

Training or not that was 100% commitment in the face of a gun on the dogs part thats for sure!!

That happened to me a few months ago in woodhill forest. Bloody deer came flying across the trail about 5 metres in front of me at head height as I was rippin through the wood chopper trail.

Yeah, those police dogs don't muck around and padding is all good but I bet those guys still get a hell of a beating...

Sack of cement with teeth... Yikes.
I've seen a mates German Shepherd get set on some unwelcome visitors (in a van). Scary sight, was glad I was well clear.
We got robbed 3 times in pretty quick succession, got a rotty/doberman cross, problem solved.
Which is pretty funny because the thing is the most coddled cowardly dog I've ever seen...
