Welcome to the site - plenty of Pros here.
My budget is only 2500
This might get you.
Don't write off less sporty bikes as your first. IMO, it's better to learn roadcraft on a slower bike before getting a faster bike.

Your dreaming mate. $2500 will get you a good bike but not one of those high powered sports bikes.
The only bike you will ever need in life is a GPX 250 . Right in your price range and one hell of a ride. I am not biased in anyway :shifty:

You're going to have to hunt around a bit to get a deal like that. Don't rule out naked bikes or twin-cylinder engines. ;)

Buy a used trail bike, put road tyres on it if wanting some sort of street look. There's nothing wrong with trailbikes. And I'm not talking about effin TRIAL bikes, I mean TRAIL bikes. Yeah. Make it a 250, they'll cruise at 110kph on the road, but fuck the road and roadbikes, too dangerous, the traffics killer, keep the trail tyres on it and do a year or two offroad first, it's way more fun, THEN try hardline roadbike shit

It's a great time to be buying a bike. The seller will say no to your ridiculous offer however his wife will take the cash and give you his bike and gear.

The GSXR250 or GPX is a good choice, not as sporty as a cbr or zxr, but you'd be lucky to get one of those on your budget. The big advantage of these two is that they're physically bigger bikes, important when you're 6'.

Ummm, not the GSXR 250 I sat on today.... As small, and as sporty as the CBR's... Just lacking the Honda feel.
My advise would be to go looking at a bike shop, and sit on a few... Ride a few. A Twin will actually be the bike of choice in my opinion for a 250 learners bike. A little more low down torque compared to the 4's as a rule...
Makes it easier to live with.
