My helmet has some scratches through the topcoat of the paint because some idiot backed into my bike while it was parked up at vic uni, and I need someone knowledgable to check if its still alright to use on the track day. I dont think its impact damage, just scrapage...

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

if someone backed into your bike.... where was your helmet?

Was it hanging off your bike?
where on your bike was it hanging from?
Did it drop to the ground?

as this may help in answering your question.

Also is your bike ok any damage done?
Did ya get the pratt that backed into your bike?

It was on the helmet lock, so hanging off the side. No damage to bike so i dont think it fell over. Didnt get the pratt, some guy told me about it but couldnt get licence plate... said it was an old guy on a huge red bike... and i know theres an old guy on a red goldwing there.....

I wouldn't use it any more liftback, but I'm super paranoid about the contents of my cranium. Obvious damage like that often doesn't get very far in scrutineering for track days or racing either.

Yeah I dont want to be using it for much longer... the only problem is I cant afford a new helmet. Bloody goldwing wanker! :angry2: :brick:

1. Damaged helmets are potentially unsafe, even if they look OK.
2. Throw old helmet away.
3. Buy new helmet.
4. Take more care with new helmet.

Yeah I highly doubt its gonna be usable for the track day... and i dont have enough overdraft left to buy a new one so i'm prolly gonna have to pull out... and get a new helmet a soon as possible (and park where idiots cant back into it).

If there's no room left in that park, go under that walkway just over the carpark. That's where I go if it's raining or real windy. I was chatting to a guy who thought I might be you - the guy who had got the number plate.

Oh really?? The guy I was talking to couldnt get the number plate. Did this other guy tell you what it was by any chance? I really wanna hit the guy up for a new helmet...

What size head do you have?

Could maybe lend you one.

Also. If the helmet is rooted, will your insurance cover it? I doubt a few grazes in the gel coat would ruin it if it was not dropped....

Cheers

Not sure what size head I have... my helmet is an XL.

Nah I dont have helmet cover on my insurance.

I'm not actually sure whether it was dropped or not, I think it may have been now because the lens cover on the indicator of the side was broken and the side of the mirror & clutch/sproket? cover scratched. Plus it was in gear when I went to start it (I always have it in neutral). So I dont want to take any chances with it really...

gutted, sounds like he fully knocked ur ride over, fully worth hitting him up (he may be good about it?!? ya dont know till you ask) that or sneakily make him admit it and a) have a recorder or witness handy b)see'in as u wear an XL helmet you sould be big enuff to beat the s@% out of him! do so!! c) wait till his bikes there and push it over (could end up escalating and needless bike damage)

there's a few good helmet sales around at the mo! seeing as how the import tax has been removed, healthy cranium protection paranoia can cheeply be remidied whenever necessary!!

Oh - maybe I'm getting confused? :spudwhat: He seemed to know what bike it was though. Was it a older (as in "mature student") guy that talked to you, who's bike had got a flat tyre?
