View Full Version : Ladies perspective on biker chicks!

This thought crossed my mind while answering another thread. What type of reactions have you chickaz got from the other 3/4 of our species without two wheels? Anybody get particularly bad stories? or perhaps funny ones?
Personally, i get dirty looks, perhaps dagger stare as her husband/bf checks my bike out or has a chat with me.

I think non biker women think biker women are skanky, slutty, covered in tatts, drink straight from the keg etc... etc...

Well - the truth is, that is what the male bikers are like. Well, that's why Mrs. B fell for me

Surprise, admiration and sometimes envy. There was one bloke who got a clip round the ear from his wife for being too interested in what I was riding, but she was fine with me

well bitches get territorial whether u'r a biker or not if u'r even remotely good looking, which is ridiculous. I always say, u can look but u can't touch to my bf, and he says the same to me regarding males, other females aren't off limits to me, lol! But aside from that, purely the image of a chick riding a bike, i just wounder wot other chicks think.

Some of the prissy misses that I work with seem to view me as a 'special being' you know like 'special needs' because I don't give a shit that my hair isn't perfect every day at work and I traipse into work lugging all my bike gear looking very unglamorous. They kind of look me up and down like OMG get that woman a GHD!!!

Then there are the ones who are so cute with their admiration of a 'chick riding' as if it is considered something impossible for females to do or something?! I remember this one girl (much younger than I at the time) used to go on and on about how cool she thought it was that a chick rode bikes and how cool they are and how she would park next to me when she got her bike....which of course she was getting any minute now...along with her learners license as she had never even sat on a bike oh and I recall she saw herself getting a Harley. 12 years later guess what? Still no license let alone Harley. BTW...I didn't think they made Harleys in 250cc or for under $5K  She was a sweetie though

Frankly I don't get it. So what if we ride bikes? Big whoop...anyone who is 'amazed or feels threatened' by a chick because she rides nasty dangerous motorcycles needs to wake up and realise that we are not living in the dark ages anymore.

BTW - Kunoichi sure you weren't just getting the stink eye from wives/gfs because you are a cutie and those husbands/bfs were just digging on you for that reason? ;)

But aside from that, purely the image of a chick riding a bike From a bloke thats been riding 38 years believe me most times theres no indication there is a chick riding the bike when you come up behind one, contrary to popular belief in most cases theres no way leather is going to make your arses look any smaller. ;)

LOL, yeah i think it's just woman thinking how they could never give up their glamour (make up and oh so precise hairdo) for helmet and leathers. But even those woman must admire biker chicks for the confidence to feel we don't need to look glamourous to feel good. LOL, tho i think i look damn hot in my leathers :p

Um, i know i'm a natural flirt, but she would probably get my attention before him since i'v already got a partner. LOL, and any man daft enuf to try hit on me with his misus behind him is not worth talking to, unless his misus is interested in getting in too.

LOL, well i know my ass definatly looks smaller in my leathers rather than my cordurals, but i tried to feminize my leathers with a white leather jacket, and usually have my hair flying out of my helmet. Hopefully that's enuf to say i'm a chick. LOL, one guy noticed wen over taking me on the motorway once, slowed down to say hi and took off. LOL

I ride with a very fast bunch of riders - and yes I occassionally get the odd glare from other women, because I am out riding with their men, and they can't keep up.

At the end of the day, I look at it as their problem not mine. I mingle, have fun and do not cross any lines.

And no, you cannot tell it is a women riding - sometimes you can pick them, but not often. Generally only when the helmet comes off......

I'm out there to ride and enjoy myself doing that. Who cares what anyone else thinks.:first:

I don't get any reaction from other women, but then I'm a pretty non threatening type of person. Just go about my business, never noticed guys hitting on me (perhaps that's cos they don't...) !

My students all think it's pretty cool though, and get plenty of calls from the boys asking if they can ride my bike. As if!!! hahahaha.

Well I only have good stories.

The (older) ladies at my mothers swimming/coffee mornings love it and think its pretty cool. The women who teaches them has since gone for her learners and I think is still in the processes of getting her first bike. (I like to think I have something to do with that).

The mother of my sons best friend has since started riding, and I gave her a helmet to help her on her way.

The guys (I dont work with any ladies) like me turning up on my bike to work :niceone:

And I really dont care what anyone thinks about me (a girl) riding, my family think its cool. My kids think its awesome and I love riding and thats all that matters.

I don't really give a rats arse what people think of me riding.

Have had a few older gentlemen come up to me at petrol stations and say "Good onya girlie" or they just look at me with a mixture of shock and fascination, which causes me to check that all zips and body parts are in their rightful place.

I usually get smiled at, and if I'm with the hubby often the "haha you have a bigger bike than him, good for you" comments. I must look resourceful as I often get asked by little old ladies at gas stations to fill up their gas cans/cars with petrol. But at the end of the day I don't give a shit what other people think, I'm just doing my own thing and if they have a problem with it then it's their problem not mine (unless they pull in front of me or try touching my bike... then maybe I'll make it their problem too anyway!) ;)

I have also received a few side looks from other woman thinking I must be crazy to be riding such a motorbike.

Got lots of stares by men when I was out with the 09 R1 and CBR and noticed that they would only approach the male I was with to ask about the bikes. I guess it takes time for somethings to change but the world will just have to get used to it!

I think I made some comment about needing to get home to get some washing on the line...that really challenged some guy standing on the forecourt he looked at me like - you can ride but you chose to go home to hang washing...I replied with something along the lines of me bras and undies don't wash and dry themselves ya know!

Got lots of stares by men when I was out with the 09 R1 and CBR and noticed that they would only approach the male I was with to ask about the bikes. I guess it takes time for somethings to change but the world will just have to get used to it!

In their defence there ain't that many ladies out there who know their stuff when it comes to bikes - or any other automobile for that matter. I'm not trying to put down us girls but the numbers (at this stage) are against. Chances are it would only be another female biker or other clued-up female that would approach you first about specs and what-not and even then some of them may still ask the guy first. As you say. Play the waiting game.... the world will change.... one day..... (soon I hope)

On a personal note (re this thread) being a slightly larger proportioned girl I don't think it's immediately obvious that there is a girl under the helmet. Even when I had really long hair. My riding doesn't give me away (I can be just as pushy as the guys when I'm in a hurry or following some prat who can't drive...). Yet from the guys I get positive and funny (for me) reactions. Especially at lights.

I was riding through town once late on a saturday night and had one guy try to jump on the back once he found out I was a girl and wanted to go for a ride....

At the lights the boy racers are rearing to go and want to show off once they find out I'm a girl. All thought about power to weight ratios go out of their head fight up until they're watching my tail light ahead of them....
I must admit that by that stage there is usually a massive smirk on my face...

The other assumption I found I get is that cos I ride I must be a lesbian :clap::killingme:
If I swung that way it wouldn't be so bad and it's only men that seem to think that. Girls seem to know whether another chick is lesbian or not. I never been hit on by a lesbian so to my mind that tells me they would definitely know the difference and pick out who's gay, who's straight and the ones who don't care and/or are bi.

I would think chicks who ride bikes would be better in bed than your average "ewww I don't like getting dirty, I might break a finger nail or mess up my hair" type of chick who stays indoors and doesn't know how to change a flat tyre. I read that the way to tell if a chick is good in bed is to watch her eat. If she eats heartily and enjoys her food it is usually a sign of how she is in the sack, as opposed to one that picks and nibbles at her food or goes off to the loo to stick her fingers down her throat afterwards. But then again, what would I know about fucking chicks.:)

Personally I don't think you can assume anything about someones vigour/skill/whatever in the bedroom by the way they do anything outside of it. Seems to me that unless BOTH players are appropriately 'matched' even firecrackers won't go off.

As for what SPB said - sadlly there are some skanky bitches out there that seem to think that riding with the boys is a great way to pick up a root...even married or attached ones. Thankfully these wenches ARE in the minority and to be fair are mostly preceeded by their reputations...advice to all - LISTEN - where there is smoke there is very likely to be fire.

it is more than the fact they ride, its also to do with their attitude to life and willingness to give things a go.

plus its awesome to go for a ride together, its almost as good as sex.....but we can always do that first anyway!

ROFL, i got more luck getting my dead great grandmama on the back of my bike than my bf. He's been a pillion bitch thru all his childhood and got his first bike 6mnths ago and won't hear of the idea (instead i gota pick him up in the damn cage! :blank: )

Bullshit. He wrote his own bike off, whereas you're still riding happily. Tell him either he can get on the back of YOUR little green ninja-ette, or walk.

And look on the bright side - if he gets bored, he might turbo your bike with some green LEDs while he's at it.

Biker chicks??........they make my [non riding] missus nervous. The threat of leaving her for a hot bitch on a 1098 is no joke and an ever present [if highly unlikely] threat.
I question if most biker chicks would be a great shag tho'?....lets face it most seem to possess a surplus of testosterone.......so yeah in summing they are hot on the road but duds in bed:devil2:
Surely woman made 'nervous' by single biker chicks should only be worrying about the question of their own insecurities????

Best and worst (female) reactions to my wife becoming a lady biker (at the age of 50!!) were - "Effin awesome, I'm jealous" - from our 24 year old daughter, and ".. but she's a WOMAN, how can you let her do that, I mean, women can't ride motorbikes, and the tatoos and all that sort of stuff" - from a staff member at the hospital I work at. She's had mostly positive stuff though, mainly 'Go for it girl'

It's not illegal or anything in Bahrain for an arab girl to ride a bike, it just hasn't been done before. My 2nd cousin on my dad's side was the first arab chick to drive a F1 car. For sure u'r get plenty of bad gossip and such from most people, quiet support from admirers, but i wouldn't giva shit since i don't live there no more. Just casually visit and have a bit of fun in the desert.

um...i don't think the way a girl eats has nething to do with wot she's like in the bedroom. I'v had the princesses, the quiets, the party animals and the motormouth, and i see no link.

LOL, but the other assumptions (e.g. being a lesbian -i'm bi not lesbo- and we'r mannish) i do get alot from all sorts of people. People who'v only seen me on a bike are hugely shocked wen either they see me all dressed up for a party (a carefully planned outfit to matching jewelery, natural looking but sentual make up and atleast 2 hours spent stying and arranging my hair) or the see the state of my room (clothes on floor, bed, bathroom floor and wardrobe) and go OMG u own more than just a pair of jeans and a shirt!! Just kuz i ride a bike, interested in martial arts and hands on activities that get me down and dirty doesn't mean i don't like to dress up, play barbie, and have time with my girls. And yes, chocolate and chick flicks can be saviours sometimes!

Well I have been riding and hanging around with other riders for so long now that the wives and girlfriends who used to be jealous as hell are now my mates cos they know I'm not trying to steal their men...

They are still jealous but now its in a good way and I have encouraged at least 2 or 3 of them to get their own bikes, which they have since done.

As for the non-biker crowd, never had any negative reactions, like someone else said...admiration and envy are more common.

Oh and 98tls? Most times you definately CAN tell if its a female riding the bike...I used to wonder about this and so have asked a few people. They all said "you make that bike look huge and YEP its obvious you're female...the curves are a dead giveaway".

I reckon your motorcycle clothes shouldn't be so shapeless that sex can't be determined...they should be well fitting

LOL, man do i LOVE NZ, since no ladies seem to get harassed here for riding. Looking forward to heading back to Bahrain (middle east) with my hubby and introduce him to the family, and rent out some off road bikes and go along the sand dunes. I bet $20 that there'll be an article in the news of 'first arab woman motorbike rider', and damn proud of it too! It'll probably get a mixed reaction, good thing i don't live there no more! :p

Good on you kunoichi, im glad you love NZ and feel relaxed enough about riding your bike here than your homeland, which would cause a bit of a 'rackus' no doubt!
Now not being 'mum' but i youst to have long hair and having it out the back of a helmet causes no ends of tangles  but when i was over in the states recently i noticed you can buy these really cool leather hair tubes, that look so cool .....nice to accessorise, you might even be able to get them here.

Personally, i get dirty looks, perhaps dagger stare as her husband/bf checks my bike out or has a chat with me.

I haven't got leather gears ... wouldn't mind a leather jacket but couple of things I hate ... the arms are always all baggy ... YUCK, and most of the ones I find are too short. I have a longer upper body, and am reasonably .... ahem ... well endowed, so jackets and tops etc tend to be a little short for me.

But the IXON jacket (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280061157755&ih=018&category=30208&ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1)I got is awesome, fitting, but holds everything in nice and tight, but tight in the right places, ya know what I mean!

lol, that's alot nicer than my textile jacket and pants. I had the same problem as u in jacket size, my torso is far too long so i can't wear the size small jacket. But wot i ended up doing is geting the size up and getting the pant zip sown onto the bottom of the jacket (lady on K rd does wounders with leathers) so that it doesn't ride up if i crash, leaving plenty of space for my "friends". I only wish i could find a leather jacket that has a long torso in a size small.

I just made a comment on this on another one. I want to meet other woman that I can maybe hook up with and ride with but I have met only one lady on my rides that wasnt bitchy and didnt appear threatened by me talking to the other men in their group even though I am 40 and married. I am looking to upgrade so I ask them about their bikes if its one I have been looking at. I have been riding on my own for quite a few years now, I have not had friends that ride and didnt care because I rode to wind down and switch off and get the adrenalin going after spending too long with the kids. I dont talk too much about riding with other woman and most dont care anyway if they are not interested in it. I think the younger and better looking you are the more threatened other woman are. And of course the older they are.
Owning a japa not a harley is the main comment I have had. Who even needs to respond to that simple mindedness.

After 10 years I am sick of riding alone. I still like to ride alone when I am trying something new (technique) or if I am out for a de stress and prefer to only have to think about me. Have just got a new group together and what has worked for me was leading the way just while we get used to riding together. I ride with a group of others who are just getting back into it and I had a little more recent time riding so they were ok with it. I like to ride smooth and constant and not erratic charging at corners braking hard just to make it around, not in a group anyway. And if any of us feel like that we say and let each other out to play. Its great.
Anyway, I have to ask you what your going to upgrade to?Its a massive decision and I have become obsessed reading reviews and asking others advice.

Well that sounds like common-sense riding to me. I've ridden both styles of group rides, and I absolutely loathe the charge at the corner and brake hard style of riding...

I'm thinking of upgrading to a Hyosung GT650 Comet. I've currently got a GT250R and quite like it, but my daughter recently got the 250 Comet and I have taken it for a couple of blats and found it to be quite nutty to ride. The naked, upright position is quite a different feel to the sport bike and I'm thinking I might give that a go for a bit. The ride is much smoother on the Comet than the sport bike too, which definitely has it's appeal.

It certainly is confusing when you look into it... Lots of pro's and con's.

Asking others advice is all very well but personally the only advice I would be taking on board are things relating to parts availability, servicing schedule and that sort of thing...and it pays to take that advice from people who actually OWN the model bike that you are enquiring about...

Hey this is just my personal take on the matter...I have formed my opinions about bikes by taking them for demo rides...Riding it is the only way to find out if its 'you' . When you ride the right bike you will know it :2thumbsup:love:

And another opinion of mine is that the bike doesn't have to tick every single box... for example I LOVE the Buell CR that I have recently bought BUT it is too tall for me. The other day I was parked on a slight slope and wasn't able to reach the stand...friggin annoying and somewhat embarassing...luckily my mate rode up beside me and kicked it up for me LOL.

ditto ditto ditto thats why I tend to ride with a small group of riding buddies who all have a similar style...I'm the only one without a radar detector so tend to ride in the middle. he just reckons i can't because i'v dropped my 250 so many times and had 1 accident on it, but that was in my first 6 months of riding. With you there. There's really no need for it and it's just dangerous. I've ridden with people that felt the need to ride so close to me that I actually couldn't see them in my mirrors and wondered where they had gone until I did a head check and saw them almost beside me. Bad form. Surfice to say I have never ridden with them again. I don't need an escort and if you like me that much how about you buy me a coffee when we stop!

I've ridden with those same "people" in defence of the one that springs to mind in that one situation that springs to mind - they thought they were acting as a shield to keep you safe from the mad arse Boy racer in the left lane sizing up to cut you off  But yeah give me some space please - I find group rides (except with those I do ride with) always involve too many muppets out to prove a point - the point they prove is that group rides with unskilled overconfident tossers in the mix are no fun.

Big breath.

BTW - I find like all things there are some biker chicks that are snobby bitches and some are the coolest most rad chicks ever...thankfully I know more of the latter and only really a couple of the former.

Ok each to their own but in my opinion...and personal experience...when you are riding "up the date" (as I put it) of the bike in front of ya then when it unexpectedly turns to custard you've got NOWHERE to go.

Apologies that this seems to be going a bit off topic but I am merely commenting on points raised...

BTW...can't remember if I said this earlier in the thread so here goes. I regularly ride with a really good friend who rides a HD Sporty. She is scraping on every corner LOL. Ok, so our rides together are a bit slower than when I'm out with my sport bike mates but I still have a bloody enjoyable time riding with her cos she does it with ATTITUDE!!

I was riding with the SMC guys through the suburbs and after a two lane roundabout the lanes merged and a car tried to shove past me. My boyfriend zipped past and fully stopped in front of the car to let us all go through. Haven't been on a long, proper ride with them yet...oh wait, I came back from Kaiaua with gi joe, motorbyclist and PirateJafa one time. Good fun!

in all honesty, ive never really looked around to see reactions from other people when i get off the bike. really couldnt care less. im past being the subject of attention, good or bad. due to high school bullying, i tend to take things as a negative. though i must admit the attention the kea gave me was rather flattering. lol.
one reaction i can remember was the drunk leaning in the door of the TAB who watched me get off the bike, remove helmet etc and then asked me if i rode the bike. i told him i pulled it out of my pocket. lmfao.
the kids at work [kids being aged 15 and older] think i ride a harley and have tattoos all over my legs. im not gonna bother correcting them.

[QUOTE=buellbabe;1129434633]Asking others advice is all very well but personally the only advice I would be taking on board are things relating to parts availability, servicing schedule and that sort of thing...and it pays to take that advice from people who actually OWN the model bike that you are enquiring about...

Thanks for all your advice. I will be taking it.

I always got some comment or other on the 996s. That was fair enough, it set hyundi van alarms off just idling... and ... that was ALWAYS cool.

There's a good few women at the trackdays too & most chicks are stoked to see other girl riders, but I do notice if you are out for a random ride to yourself its mostly other guys riding.

I stopped at a checkpoint the other day and when it came my turn, the cop did a double take when he realised I was a chick! He actually took a step backwards and fell over his tongue for the next minute or so while he wanted to know if I had my bike license, then proceeded to check my tail section out...

Most people I encounter think it's soooo cool I ride a bike. I think the women are a mix of envious and 'you wouldn't catch me dead on a bike' types! Hahaha.... It's definitely funny when you catch people's reactions and you've set them back on their heels.

Hell yeah, when I pull up on my bike, the looks, thumbs up :niceone:, totall disbelief & a look of shock almost, is worth a thousand words. :niceone::clap: I did a group ride for ladies only, from Tga, TeKaha, then onto Gizzy. What a blast. the best thing was whenever we ;pulled up anywhere, was the totall disbelief that a group of 6 ladies were out doing this ride with NO guys. We all had big bikes from Triumph Rocket III, Honda Fireblade, Daytona 955, Street Triples x2, Ninja 900. :woohoo::scooter: and we will do it again. If you wanna join us on our Ladies rides, just give Bayride Tga a call & ask to be put on our Ladies TXT list. The more the merrier.
I agree with you Bikr3chik.. . .. most people think it is soooo 'cool' we ride a bike. Even the guys I work with can't believe I ride.. . . and when I said I was going to learn, they didn't really take me seriously, but now, they are just 'gobbed smacked. :niceone::devil2: Another 'plus' for us ladies.
When I got pulled up by the local, first time ever, yep, even the look on his face was worth a 'bonus'. Arrogant sod he was.

Haven't had much bad reaction, except the standard from men or women sometimes about how dangerous it is... to which I usually reply that I'd rather live while I'm alive than than just exist. And if they seem ok might start with the usual about yeah, you've gotta be careful. Mostly people either gender just want to know about the bike and think it is cool.

I've been riding motorbikes for 36 years, the last 28 years on road bikes and the first few years was on off road bikes.
I find over the years that there are only a small percentage of women that are still riding after quite a few years, seems like it may only be a fad some are going through or it seemed a trendy thing to do at the time.
A few stop riding because they have babies and a few because their boyfriends or husbands don't like them riding bikes because lets face it, you are more likely to get hurt in a bike accident than in a car accident.
I'm not putting anyone down because they have decided to give riding away, we all follow different paths in our lives, I never had children so never had to stop riding and I married someone who also rode, I think he just wanted to get his hands on my Ducati that I rode at the time. :D
My mother started riding bikes when she was 18 and my father also rode bikes so it was inevitable that I was going to ride I guess, they loved bikes and I have always loved bikes too, it's a very personal thing to do, sitting on a bike and going for a ride, bit dull in the car compared to the bike isn't it!
I think it is completely normal for a woman to ride a motorbike and am surprised that some people find it a novelty to see a woman on a bike, I think there should be more of us out there doing it and I think it's great to see so many of us out there on the roads or on the track.
I never had the balls to race and I admire the girls that are doing it. I remember seeing a woman on an old Rudge racing in the Classsic races at Amaroo in 1984, she always came in second last but at least she was having a great time, she also used to ride the Rudge home after the racing, no trailers for her, what a woman.
Keep riding girls, we need more women on bikes I reckon.

Well even in France (and I think everywhere) it is difficult to be a girl with the bike and not only the pillion (although I did appreciate my time as one also).
Especially when the girl is not of the huge kind of girl but quite feminine.
And I always enjoy it A LOT when bikers and their girlfriend see me, and check who can be this dwarf on a bike.
And then I put off my helmet, get off and actually move the bike...
You see, I am only 4feet 11 so sometimes I am bad eough to really face the boys and check my bikes and do my maintenance whichn nowadays, most men can't do anymore....

I'm with you too re the fast into the corner stuff, I try to have my speed down to what I know I can take the corner at without needing to change my knickers at the end of the ride. (Yes, have ended up on the far side of a corner once in Hunua EEEK, and crossed the centre line a couple of times. Not like it at all!)

Alex's bike was really comfy to sit on, even for a shorty like me, and reckon it would be a nice ride. Is the 650 about the same size as her 250?

Geez the stereotypes are funny. I remember not that long ago some misguided youth made the mistake of saying that all female motorcyclists we mannish and ood. Luckily I had an opportunity to set him straight in person on that score and was good enough to apologise on here :D

Takes all sorts in this world, there are also the transexuals, and the gay men as well as the cutest lesbians I have ever seen that ride as well. Big, butch dykes are but a tiny little percentage of the female riding populace.

Yes, the Comet is a really cool bike to ride. It is so comfy and has a fun feel about it that is really hard to describe. It's like a JarJar Binks bike with a fluffy bunny tail or something - It just feels cool. So much so in fact, it has me thinking seriously about whether I like my 650. We told Alex this to begin with, and she thought we were just trying to complement her bike, UNTIL she rode he mums' GT250R and hated it. heheh. Comets are awesome.
