Pissed off that winter has come and it's been cold and it's now wet.
Pissed off that tyres don't seem to last more than 4,000kms on my bike and cost so much.
Pissed off that summer is now a long way off.
Pissed of that every weekend I don't work, it's raining and though you can get out on the bike you can't corner hard.
Pissed off that so many really nice bikes are coming out and you can't afford to upgrade.
Pissed off that every cop in existence seems to be a biker hater.
Bloody happy I own a GSX1400 and really love riding her :) :) :niceone:   :bleh:

Stoked I'm >10,000k's up on your tyres, though.
My last ones looked exactly the same when they failed the warrant as when I purchased the bike, after 13,000k's.

How the hell do you manage 4,000 k's out of a rear on that thing. I get between 1,000 and 2,000 k's (well, I haven't actually made it to 2,000 k's, it sounds like a myth or an urban legend, only less believable.
I've had a worst of much less than 1,000k's...
I ride carefully. With loads of restraint. Can't imagine why my tires dissolve...

That sucks. 300 metres and I'm straight into some of the best twisties in the country.... maybe that's my problem. :niceone:Hardly a problem eh.I was lucky enough to be born/raised at the beginning of the Hundaless (great bit of road in Nth Canterbury) with a motorcycle mad father, nearest cop was miles away so spent my time going nuts in the twistys on old dirt-bikes,many bikes used to pass through and as i was well versed on the road used to give many on some pretty sporty bikes (by the standards at the time) the hurry up.On more than one occasion got waved over on a straight by a Laverda (or similar) rider to have a yarn, there expressions at times were unforgettable when after taking my helmet off they were confronted with a 14 year old on a dirt-bike that had continually outbraked them through the tight stuff. Not to mention no licence/rego/wof:rolleyes:fuck not even a number plate.

I got 3000 out of my last Conti sport attacks, 4000 from Mich P2's, but I put on Conti road attacks last time - I changed my riding style a little, didn't brake has hard, rolled the throttle on a little easier - and I got 6000 out of them, including a South Island trip.
But to be honest - I prefer riding the bloody thing, opening her up while it's leaning over and belting out of the corner, braking hard and floating the rear into a corner

Straight-lining is never going to be interesting unless you are set on gambling your license. I'm not, so if it does 140 km/h easily it's fast enough for the road. (That said, they are not the most comfortable machines for getting to the good parts... but again HTFU! ;) )
Oh, that and the fact that you don't have to travel far to get to good bits. At least not in NZ.

Four wet weekends in a row and the bikes gathering dust.
4000km a tyre! Bugger that, go middleweight, much better value.
Just curious, what mileage do you get out of the chain as well?
I got 25k from the original but made a dumb choice to fit a cheapo. Useless thing was slapping around in no time like a Vivian St whore. Expensive lesson in false economics.

Chain and sprockets all good but the reason for that is a Scott Oiler. Original chain & sprockets have now seen over 30,000kms and no apparent wear as yet :) Hardly ever have to adjust it either.

Yep, heaps of low end torque alright, great for cornering. :)
The tyres I use are all sport touring tyres but the last front was a Michelin Pilot Power as they had no front Pilot Road 2's when I needed one. With PR2's on the fron as well I can manage 6500kms from the front then.
I barely ever get anywhere past 4,000kms on a rear sport touring tyre though :(

dude, its easy.....
he has the same bike as me and i get 4-5k out of a set of sports.
He says hes getting between 1,000kms and 2,000kms Carver....Not 5,000kms...
I would guess the speeds needed to thrash tyres in 1000kms plus would be 600kphish.....

Voluntarily give up your license every winter. Ive done it the last 3 years on the trot now and works fine... I dont want to ride in winter, and I cant ride in winter :D

Man, that must be some kind of record for Pilot roads:(
Hell's teeth. I got well over 6K plus about 200 track-laps out of my Pilot Powers.
Mind you, they were so heat-distorted (still had legal tread depth) by change-time that when passing through any corner in excess of 80Kph, it was like doing the dance of the Sugar-Plum fairy.

Well actually the weather has been beautiful here...mini skirt weather even :P
I believe that, was in Brisbane a couple of weeks ago, and it was so warm, and then I had to come back to frozen Canterbury, sigh.
Beyond you have my total empathy..

LOL, 3500kms on my last rear Michelin Pilot Road 2 and 3900kms on the front Michelin Pilot Power. I need shares in the Michelin factory.
Do you buy them 2nd hand? worst i ever got out of pilot road 2's was 8000km, with 2 track days thrown in. Got 13000+ out of the last set.
I run 38 front and 42 rear, that probably makes a bit of difference.
