I've got an old twinshock PE175 just for a bit of fanging around the paddock and teaching my 12 year old how to ride, but those original Kayaba shocks are now totally kaput. Does anyone have a pair of 2nd hand but okay shocks going dirt cheap? A free pair of brand-new heavy-duty Ohlins or WPs would be the first prize, but we'll settle for something less costly. Can those old KYB shocks be rebuilt cost-effectively?

Robert Taylor is a member of this site and the NZ Ohlins importer/Dealer but they rebuild other brands as well, get a hold of him and he''ll soon tell you what can be done

I am looking at getting a PE up from CHCH for Parts for a full rebuild....if the shocks are ok you can have them just maybe another month or so...waiting on guy to contact me back with price etc

That'll be awesome mate! Want to teach my 12 year old how to ride his first bike -- that twinshock PE175 -- down along South Beach when the summer weather shows up one day! PM me once you know that you're scrapping your shocks. Thanks heaps!

Great bike for learning mate, I learnt to ride on one of those machines when I was his age as well. Spent hours doing figure eights on the beach, slowly starting to slide it out and all. A few impromptu wheelies resulted from dropping the clutch also.. they still have a bit of grunt those machines, left my mates xr250 for dead..
