Sorry if this is a repost but f**k me!! :gob: You can almost feel this dude go past. Watch it 'til the end. This is why I go in the slowbie group on track days so there's no inside passing. Still can't get over this!

Brett
15th June 2009, 12:39
Shit, I recall a certain someone nearly doing that at Pukekohe ! However that guy clearly had no idea where his braking point was, he was still really moving when the first guy had already turned in to the corner.

totally agree with this as well. Didn't really expect what it turned out to be though. I was speechless for a few minutes after i saw this. Imagine if it was you!! I reckon it would take you at least to the next corner for everything to set in. Then you would just about park up for a breather.

Still can't work out if that was a wall straight ahead of the corner and if it was, did the dude hit it because he had a fair few knots under his belt.

Looked like a comedy of errors out there to say the least... saw at least one bike on its side at the start of the video... wonder how many more came off and if anyone was injured?

Never been on one myself and this sort of thing puts me off. Hell I wouldn't even know where my braking line would be if I was on the track.

Shheesssh! Bunch of bloody nutters.
Man, that could have gone so bad. Looks like the dude thought he was on the back straight without a corner, the speed he shot past.

Hang on a minute, looks very much like some footage off the last Coro loop <_< :shifty:

Going all hard out on cold tyres and probably a cold track.

One bike dropped on about the first corner then the other guy just about loses control. At the end, Valentino hasn't an clue what riding is about. Total chaos.

This sort of stuff is why I ride in C class on track days. It's just as much fun but a hell of a lot safer.

erik
15th June 2009, 22:32
makes you appreciate the "no passing on the inside going into corners" rule they usually have at trackdays.

I also remember you at Taupo loosing the rear end of the CBR on the hair pin entry onto the back straight, looking at that tyre, you did an awesome job not highsiding!

15th June 2009, 22:44
that is some crazy shit. Pretty sure if I was anywhere near it I would be finishing lap 1 and going home.

On the flip side, I have been to a few trackdays at manfield held by vic club and central districts and it is nothing like that.

If we start posting some car vs bike vids will you stop riding on the road? Pffft come on people.

I've done 7 trackdays and that sort of shit is the exception. Only once have I seen anything I'd consider dodgy. Compared to group rides and dealing with cages it's heaven!

Never been on one myself and this sort of thing puts me off. Hell I wouldn't even know where my braking line would be if I was on the track.

That's why you start in group 4 and follow the lines riders. It's nowhere near as scary as you'd imagine.

IMO, the only thing that was dodgy in that was the near miss at the end. And I think it'd take some considerable stupidity/inexperience or major mental lapse to do something like that - not something that happens often (especially at track days with the "no passing on the inside into corners rule").

The fallen bike and the small tail wiggles the other riders had are just part of trackdays and learning you and your bike's limits.

Taz
16th June 2009, 08:06
Not many skills being shown in that whole clip. Think they need to learn to go fast on slow bikes before they try to go slow on fast bikes.

I think in a NZ trackday that wouldnt happen. Shitforbrains clearly had no idea being out in that group. Plus if that was me that the guy nearly took out he would get a punch in the goddamn face even if I had to climb on a stepladder to do it.

dont let it put you off trackdays. they are very well organised in NZ and esp for newbs, are very tightly controlled.

I sent that vid to a guy I know who is a UK biker whose response was along the lines of UK trackdays being full of racer wannabes. Plus they are majorly expensive.

Yes that worries me about trackdays with lots of newbies about, that can go fast but cannot stop.
I had some (idiot) on a gutless silver Triumph almost take me out at Taupo a few years back, he was going to fast for the corner to try and make up time, almost took out my back wheel, my bike had only done 1500km at that stage , f..k I would have been one sour dude had he made contact..

I wonder if the guy missing the corner went to buy a lotto ticket? ....... Once he pulled the seat out of his arse, me be thinking!
