I m just curious is there KB'rs out there that have mc boots that don't leak in the pouring rain.
I paid $300 for my Oxtar boots , they leak like a sieve, most uncomfortable after about 10mins.
Fine on a damp road but when the road has puddles on it their useless.
Bloody Warehouse gumboots would be better.

There used to be. In the late 1970's I bought a pair made by Frames in Dunedin. They lasted 15 years before they finally started to leak. When I went to Frames to get another pair I was told that they stopped making them around 1985 because they weren't selling (read that as being they didn't need replacing often enough). It was the boots that leaked and fell to bits after only a couple of years that sell the best.
Now, boots that don't leak appear to be a myth.

id give my left tit for a pair of waterproof boots. i hate wet feet, and the boots ive currently got leave my feet swimming if i so much as look at a puddle.

Goretex. Accept no substitutes.
I wear John Bull calf length leather workboots.
Keep plenty of dubbin on them too.
They have been very reliable on some very wet rides.

Haven't had any water get into my Gaerne boots as of yet, very happy for the $150 I paid for them!
Stylmartins.
Paid about $200 for them and ne'er a drop inside.

My old boots were waterproof until the treatment wore off.
From then on they leaked like mad (in heavy rain - OK for showers) regardless of how much snow shield or shoe polish I used.
Just got some ones, Gaerne Aquatechs.
Supposed to have a membrane liner - like Goretex.
So far so good.

Just got a pair today. Hopefully it means I can stop wearing my red bands when it rains.

My Sidi's are waterproof. The only part of me that does stay dry :(
I've got 2 pairs of Sidi boots (one sports, one touring), and neither of them leak even in really heavy rain - even after a couple of high-speed get-offs in the sports pair.
No idea what model they are, but they've got Gore-Tex written on the side, sliders all over them, and they cost me about 200 quid IIRC

Forget about motorbike boots. And most certainly pay no heed to membranes and such like nonsense. The secret is solid leather, thick, well dubbined. I am very happy with my Army surplus paratrooper boots. For the first time in years I have boots that remain dry no matter what.

My Sidi boots do not leak either. Awesome to arrive with dry feet. Shame about the rest of me.

no leak boots will eventually leak. so still a leaky boot.
I have gone to waterproof socks instead. Sealskinz... waterproof socks.
Worked well enough for me in the pouring rain.
I also have Gaerne Aquatech that were recommended by a friend.
Great boots in the wet. No leaks at all even when really bucketing down. I think they were $250.

They all seem to be good when new I would like to know how they are after about 20,000km and 2 years wear.
I would wear motocross boots if they werent so bloody uncomfortable, they defintely dont leak, even standing in mud & water 300mm deep.
Might go get some some of these calf length work boots John Bull or something, they shouldnt leak. Better for kicking cagers doors in when they get too close..Haha
I have a pair of StylMartin Boots, the actual brand is StylContori. Not very sexy or cool I agree, but completely waterproof and as warm as boots get. Have had them for 5 years now. Only moderate use over the years, but have they have never let me down at all.
Not hugely expensive either, the amount of $250 springs to mind. Hells teeth best money I ever spent. Got them at Motomail.

My MX boots are very comfy.
They also leak if you even look at mud and water 300mm deep.
see above:
Yep, my boots (Gaerne Aquatech) are just going on 2 years and 45,000km of daily commutting. I've worn a hole in the sole right where I flick the kick stand but thats probably because I used to walk around in them quite a bit.
They still don't leak… but do smell funny though... and are a bit warm in summer.

Hey,
I have some Gaerne GRW aquatechs, and I have to agree with the others- they are a brilliant all-round boot. Dry, comfortable and they look pretty sweet! Check em out

I just bought some R-Jays in Aussie - my new technic gloves were soaking wet, but first time ever, my feet were snug and dry still

I just bought the cheapest boots I could find, $199.00 Strada's. Absolutely, totally waterproof when riding. Nice and warm too, unlike the $10.00 Warehouse gumboots I used to wear.

Here is the link for Sealskinz: http://www.sealskinz.com/
I remember last year someone on KB saying they simply put plastic bags on their feet before putting on their boots. Sealskinz waterproof socks are breathable but plastic bags would probably be OK in cold weather.
I have 1Tonne (http://www.1tonne.co.nz/index.php?page=listings&categoryid=6) touring boots that are waterproof, and only $135. Riding in a very heavy rain storm for 2 hours they did leak but only very little and nothing to worry about. In all other rain they have been waterproof although I did apply Dubbin.
Which model?
Delta RS.
I can honestly say that they have never let in a drop in the worst of weathers or the muddiest of rally sites.

Stylmartins - I had a look at their site http://www.stylmartin.com/eng/index.htm and the Delta R is most like mine.
3 winters 100% waterproof so far and comfortable too.

I sell the 1Tonne apparel and I wear these boots myself on the track. These are worth a lot more than what we sell them for but if you are going to use them more for road use I would suggest our Touring boots as they are more suited for this use.

Despite the O/P feelings about Oxtar boots, i've got a pair of Oxtar touring boots bought about 4 years ago from Motorad and they flat DO NOT LEAK. (and it does seem to rain a lot when I go riding ) I used Gaerne boot sealer (because it was included with the boots) when new and when that ran out, Sno-seal. They were the only footwear I took on a five day SI tour, so all day on the bike and at the pub at nights. No problems at all with comfort while riding or walking.
Can't find the exact style on the 'net but this is very close

I had the very same boots and they didn't leak either. I still have to get my Sidi Canyons really wet to see if they're as good.

My StyleMartins leaked - if under considerable provocation. So far the Sidi Canyons haven't, and they have been out in significant deluges.
The instructions that came with one pair of boots said that care needs to be taken to trim the toe nails. Untrimmed nails poke holes in the membrane.
Of course that wouldn't apply to any of us since we all exhibit exemplary personal hygene habits...

My boots have never leaked and I've been in a fair amount of torrential rain. (Unlike my Revit Jacket that leaks like a sieve).
They're Aplinestar Gore-Tex boots (road version), I can't find the model printed on them.
Actually that's a small lie they did leak once and I was surprised but because it was pouring down I just continued on my ride till I got home. I hoped off me bike with boots full of water, looked down and discovered I'd tucked my plastic wets into the boot instead of putting it over the outside. To this day I have no idea why I tucked them in the boots and secondly I have no idea why I didn't check when the leak started because they'd never leaked and I could feel water running down to my foot. My wife thought it was hilarious.
