I have used CRC 808 for ages.
Before.

But in saying that you only get back what you put in and it won't come from a can.
I use Lanolin spray on things like the upper fork tubes on the DR since it tacks on better even if crap sticks to it.
The protection it gives is worth it,think of all those bikes that rusted the forks hidden behind headlight mounts.
Edit ... You beat me to it Mike,i went and got some pics.
808 silicone is the shizz. Makes plastic thingy's all shiny again.

I use 808 silicon spray all over me bike, except discs and tyres. Makes it stay shiny for longer.
Might try lanocote, but the sheep smell may make me amorous.

Use a generous application of silicon on the tyres for less friction resulting in higher top end speed :niceone:

Not even close Mike,i don't do showing off because i don't care what other people think of my bikes.
What the picture shows is the whole rear end was removed when i installed the Ohlins because it was a good time to do it.
All needle roller bearings were cleaned and repacked with quality grease, that was at 10000kms form new and the sleeves were already showing signs of rubbing.
<img src=http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c345/manurewa/IMG_1254Medium.jpg>
It is no different to what i post on the Zone but very few get it.
Look after the bike and it will look after you,the average motorcycle owner is to lazy to do that and can only be bothered with the superficial .
The DR looks more like the before pic now so is due for its 10000 kms later than that 10000kms service.

Haha. I think you must be teasing. If tyres had no friction at all then the bike would never move. It would just sit there with the wheels spinning.
Silicon on the tyres would be the last thing you would want to improve speed. You want nice and sticky tyres.

DO NOT use silicon spray anywhere near your tyres. They become entirely gripless and you'll end up sliding down the road.
Remember too that silicon "creeps". Spray a small area and, in the space of a week or so, it has crept over an area eight times the sprayed surface area. I used it once on the plastic dashboard of my car. Looked shiny and neat. But a month later it had crept all over the inside of the front windscreen, right up to the sun-flaps and it fogged the vision, especially at night. I had to swab it all off with a rag soaked in methylated spirits to get a clear, haze-free view at night.
Keep silicon spray far away from your motorcycle tyres. Use it on your car, instead where you have a constant contact patch forever being scrubbed clean of the silicon creep.

I believe you are correct. It will cause you issues when trying to repair damage and the duct tape won't hold it together when trying to get all the pieces home either.

This is the stuff I got but haven't used it yet search for syntax in product find
Syntex (http://www.crc.co.nz/)
To get the clay stains off is crc or wd40 good? what recommendations? I want to get it really clean before starting to spray with this stuff in case it seals the dirt in.

I use the spray that came in a "Muc -Off' kit I bought. Seems to work real well. Use it all over the engine and hard to keep clean areas on the bike. Also is a good water-disperser/lubricant.
By the way, the actual 'Muc-Off' cleaner is excellent.

The 808 type stuff is good for those with motors that are a kinda matte-black 'crackle' finish, looks new again:woohoo: after a quick spray when you've washed the bike and it has dried off.
Stops bugs and cow-shit and other gobie crap from sticking to the motor too.

I tihnk the new syntex must be the replacement for 808. It says new generation & was in the spot where the 808 usually is on the CRC stand.
Who would have thought silicon spray could be so stimulating? Not me:wari:

Syntex isn't the new 808, it has been round for ages. The 808 cans have a different design on them now, maybe you missed them.

Ha ha I got some on the shelf to try, even with me staff discount its pretty bloody expensive.
It is just cubes of foamy stuff and it sits in the bottom of your tank. Also don't wanna put it in cos am not sure if I am going to keep this tank or get one of the military ones.

bad move now all the dirt and crap has stuck to everything and wouldn't even waterblast off.
Resorting back to silicon.

Hub uses tyre shine from Uncle Bill's on all his bikes. The Supercheap stuff is ok too except the spraycan itself is useless. Sometimes Te Warewhare have an odd brand in a black can.
Either are at least half the price of Silicon 808.

If you want to be cheap...
use Vaseline (petroleum jelly) - bit on a rag and run over plastic. Water runs right off it and makes everything very shiny and 'new' looking. I use it on dash boards on cars, rubber trim etc. Just heat tends to kind of melt it...

Scottoiler F365 is great stuff. It neutralizes the salts but does wash off eventually..but just reapply without cleaning.

Couple of hundy for enough for a big tank I think.(don't quote me on that) Got some on the shelf at the moment at work but am too tight to buy it, and I think its only for a medium tank..
Mind you the other day up the cobb I think the klr was suffering a bit of tank slosh disorder.
