Yep sure is a VTR 250....great for the vertically challenged with a bit of speed when required :D

Well. I got one up to..145k indicated at the last Honda ride day..... neat little bikes. Still prefer a Z1000 though.

145?????? my 250 does that before it hits the power band in 3rd......surely the vtr is better than 145......

Well....it had a bit more left...prob hit 155 - 160 in the right conditions ..and....it was new....its an unfaired, general purpose fun bike, not a race rep. Everyone who rode it though, had a grin on their face when they came back and THAT is the biggest factor, surely?

I really like the look of them little bikes for a learner, Rebadge it and stand back and you'd be hard pressed not to think it was a ducati monster-until you start it!

nice, probably one of the prettier 250's out there.
that'd be my choice for a 250 commuter bike.
my 87 VT250 would get 167, tapped out.

I got almost 170 out of my 1988 vt250f . But when the crank gave out i replaced it with an older vtr engine it then only just got 165. They are a great learners bike and are really forgiving (believe me) but when compared to an inline 4 / (bloody 2 stroke) they are pretty gutlless

Nice bike dude, would've bought one myself if I'd had the cash last year. Did you get it new?
A VTR250 passed me going south over the bridge on, uh, Friday evening last week I think. Wasn't you by any chance? Funnily enough there don't seem to be many of them around, they do look nice. Not enough shiny plastic and stickers for all the restricted-license Rossi wannabes, I guess :D
Care to elaborate on the decision process that landed you with a VTR instead of the de rigour mini-inline-4 or two smoke? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Yeah got my baby new .... thanks to a redundancy :p
and it werent me you saw last week as I rarely head south of the bridge....so theres at least two of us out there. .
The reason for buying are many. I have had my licence for 20 odd years and wanted to get back into bikes but not kill meeeself. God I remember the days when you walked into the testing station and shook the cops hand and he gave ya a licence...none of this restricted stuff.
I looked at a lot of second hand bikes eg CBR400 etc but they had mostly been trashed and dinged. Saw the write up on the VTR in the Bike Trader and was sold...and yes I still have the grin SPman.
The VTR250 is 4 stroke so doesnt have that whine of a 2 stroke choking at 90kms. They are commuter bikes but I have had mine out the back of Coatesville at 145 (its still new dammit) with no worries.
Only disadvantage I have found is as there is no front screen the wind resistence can be pretty non existent. Hope that helps ya jr?
Nothing will beat its daddy ...the VTR1000 but its a good start

I had a go on a mint vtr 250. It just sounded a bit funny with the standarded pipes. I know they are only 250ccs but has anyone put after market pipes on it? It might have some of the V twin roar in it.

Aff_man had one with a louder pipe, sounded pretty good.
