This is a few weeks back now but I just thought I'd put it on here.
8.30am on a freezing cold morning, 2nd corner after leaving my house in a hurry. I pull out of an intersection and give it a big handfull of gas in 1st gear, the wheel spins up big-time, bike goes sideways and of course I button off straight away and high-side myself off in the middle of the road. Rather embarrassing! No injuries to me but the bike was very close to being written off. Repair cost started off at $8500.. I couldn't believe it. Bike shop got it down to $8000 and insurance agreed to repair. Should be back on the road in about 3 weeks.
Lesson learnt - don't give a 1000 cc bike a big fist full of throttle on stone cold tyres when semi leaned over coming out of a corner.

and don't fully back off the throttle if you have started spinning..

yep, the sad thing is that I knew that... but my brain malfunctioned and wasn't on to it enough to actually put it into practice.

Yeah cheers Al. Taking the opportunity to change a few things on it:
Tinted double bubble screen
Carbon fibre Yoshi mufflers
A tail tidy that I've just ordered from the UK:

Gutted, its scary just how easy it is to do so much damage. I hope all the repairs go well!

How common is traction control on the big bikes? It could have helped in a scenario like this.
