Night and cold weather riding thought

I love riding at Night, well when its a clear and calm night. Last saturday night (and some other nights before hand) I have found myself having to squint. Not because of oncoming traffic, but because of a small amount of cold air getting into my helmet, which makes the eyes water up a tad. I had a thought on a solution, and that would be....clear swimming goggles!!!

Being out there on a clear full moon night? cant beat it really. Although last saturday night, it started to rain 20 mins from home which added to the squint issue, squinting and dazzeling headlights? not a good mix. Swimming goggles wont help with the light issue (which normally isn't really an issue although I do have lens implants and they give of a 'laser' effect) maybe tinted ones? but then I am not into tinted anything when it comes to night riding.

I particularly enjoy cold EARLY winter mornings when it is still dark and the sun is just coming up! Nothing like watching the sunrise and feeling it slowly but surely thaw you out!!

Swimming goggles may restrict your vision somewhat, because they are small.
The thought behind the idea (and they say you only need one good idea) is on a personal level. If something along the lines of Saftey Goggles (as in the pic below) could be expanded on, then there might be a market for them. Add some sung fitting foam to the inside of the frame and there you have it.

I need to wear corrective lenses when riding, so they deflect the cold air somewhat. I know what you mean though, its a pain!

I use a half tint visor and that works great for me at night and during the day. I'd be carefull about goggles fogging up. I also wear one of the things that go over your nose and down around the neck. It makes the Helmet fit just that bit more air tight.

why don't you just get some motorx gogles? they would work better than safty glasses like in the pic above and wont restrict vison like the swiming gogles

I agree. Much warmer (and less worries about rain/cold air) with a jet helmet and a pair of Stadiums.

By the way, still couldn't find a plain silk scarf anywhere, so went to a fabric shop today and bought shitloads of white 100% silk (nice and thick, high threadcount). Should only take half an hour to sew up a nice double-folded scarf... then even warmer. Block out all the cold air :)

Silver Fern Imports in Takanini has the whole range. No doubt other bike shops do too but there, at least, you get to perve over the Victory range as well.
