The last thing bikers need

to the middle to late 30's, caucasian, male wearing full gear, a grey cordura jacket, black helmet (i think) who crossed mt.eden road, just past mt eden village, between 9.10 and 9.20pm tonight and walked out in front of me, as a result, getting honked and yelled at (although you probably didn't hear me from under my helmet and scarf).

what the hell is wrong with you?? sadly it is people like you who are not going to be on KB and read this but i'll take the chance in case you are. what possessed you to cross the road ONCE YOU HAD SEEN ME COMING?!?! because of you i had to make a choice as to whether you were going to keep walking and go behind you or whether you would stop and go in front of you. i chose to go behind you which means that if you had stopped walking i would have crashed into you.

this is the last thing us bikers need!! this is something I would expect from a very small minority of the average public, but you being a biker and having experienced this yourself, should have more sense than to do something so dumb and put another biker in such a situation. having my last ever exam on tuesday (hopefully), the last thing i need is to end my university career with a broken bike and whatever broken parts of my body that i may have incurred if a crash had resulted.


i have resisted swearing in this post as much as is humanly possibly after having been put through this event. please be more considerate to others because im sure that the last time or the next time this happens to you you will curse the person much worse than anything i have said in this post.

Happens to me more than I care to say..saw an old granny with a frame cross in front of me 10 yards from a crossing.

Mums and Dad's with kid crossing on the corner of a intersection....

but that's what infuriated me, the fact that it was a biker!! i ride to uni and back everyday (almost) so i get the usual people cutting you off, people walking/pulling out in front of you, but the last thing i thought would EVER happen was a biker, in full biker gear indicating that the person has just got off his bike (he was walking away from a parking area), would be the one to see me coming and knowingly choose to walk out in front of me. made my blood boil which kept me warm for the rest of the ride home

Had to make the snap decision on Northcote road (in the cage) last year. Some old lady decided it would be a good idea to walk herself and her dog half way across my lane when i was about a hundred metres away and closing and then do a little David Campese goose step (no kidding) before deciding to keep going.
I must of missed her by no more than half a metre:mellow:

The worst are old people on mobility scooters who think they're allowed to ride on the road...as in right in the middle of the road. Got a couple of senial idiots that do that here in palmy.
