View Full Version : In memory of Zukin - gone but not forgotten

folks - Zukin's daugher Gurl Racer has a post following http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=94569

about a memorial ride in the Coromandel this coming Saturday to honour the memory of her late Dad Scott aka Zukin.

The event will also be an opportunity to raise funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Those of us of the Adventure persuasion unable to make it to the Coromandel are able to make a donation to this cause whilst honouring Scott's memory.

Also - there are several rides here in the Lower North Island - Marks's RRRR and JMJ Wairarapa Ride where folk could show their respect for Scott.

Cheers Aslan

Best wishes from down here as well.
I really enjoyed his 2007 DB1000 writeup in the bike mag. Some brilliant photos there too.

Scotty was/is a great guy.
Each ride, I say "gday" to him, and ask him to watch over the crew.
If anyone knows about adv rides where ever he is, it's him.
See you round dude

Zukin organized the first kiwibiker ride I went on (the WWWWW (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=49619&highlight=wwwww) which incidentally was exactly 2 years ago) and he went out of his way to make me feel welcome - which I really appreciated.

A video Zukin made chronicling his first 12 months adv riding...

My first adv ride was the Makairo to Mount Dick in April '07. Zukin sorted that one also. Good bugger.

Thank you all for your support to a wounderful fellow member. I am thrilled that the Wairarapa are supporting him as this was home to Zukin. He had done some wounderful community work for a lot of people and did it with pride. The relay for life was a real road trip as I was the support driver what an adventure. He was a great organiser.
His daughter Gurlracer has stepped in to his shoes, he taught her well.
The family down here in Masterton are all leaving for the Coramandal on Friday as we have our own thoughts to be there with him. I placed a peom on a blog My Last Ride feel free to read it sometime. Thank you one and all for your support at kiwi biker a great bunch of folks. Ride safe and take care.:scooter:

your son was a great man Nana Mac - watching the vid Scott made about his feeling for motorcycling (posted above by Marks) certainly touches my emotions - Scott certainly lived life to the max - a reminder to us all that its not a rehearsal - and he lived it in way that was considerate of others - may God bless you all this weekend as you remember Scott - Stephen O aka Aslan

Like everyone else, Scott isn't far from my thoughts each time I ride. I can't make the memorial ride this weekend, I'm sorry Lani, but I have my own little memorial ride each time I hit the gravel and think of the silly grin usually plastered over his face.

Second anniversary of our loss of Zukin this weekend.
Those who knew him, say "g'day Scott" as you thumb your starter button and ride out your gate this weekend.
Those who never met Scott, well, all I can say is that he was what all adv riders admire. A man with a zest for life, a loving family, and a sense of humour that was infectious.
Peace Scotty.

Time passes. But not the memories. Scott gets a nod from this household quite frequently.

RIP Scotty. Will always be remembered for his patience with a newbie rider that I was and the compliments that were given. Such an awesome guy that is sorely missed.

I didn't know Zukin, or was fortunate to meet him and ride....Sorry..:(
It is great that we all remember riding mates, gone for a little while but certainly not forgotten...
A great loss.........a damn pity. I cannot make the Coromandel ride on Saturday, but I voice my support here and best wishes to all of the family. I see he does "live" on in us all, that is great!

it's all been said already really - Scott (aka Zukin) was passionate about his adventure riding, very personable & extremely considerate of fellow riders - I've fond memories of rides taken with Scott and am often reminded of him when riding - in my thoughts Scott's family - 'may the road rise up to meet you and the wind be always behind your back Scott' (Old Irish Prayer)

Thank you all in Kiwi Biker that knew my boy Scotty ( aka Zukin ). He is sorely missed as a son, brother, father and uncle. His Dusty Butt photo takes pride and place in my lounge. I cant beleive it's two years, the 27th June 2008 is still very fresh in our minds.
Rest in peace Scotty, you will be with us forever son. The things we feel so deeply. Are the hardest things to say, but you will always be remembered in a very special way. Loved and remembered always.
Your loving family.
R.I.P Zukin.

I remember him every time i log in on here! his flashing avatar........

Thoughts with all the family and friends! Sorry i am a bit late, it was a rather disastrous weekend.

RIP Scotty!
