Anyone know why this is:
All riders must have a valid MNZ race licence - this will need to be presented upon registration
And second question, which group do motards go in? F3?

F3 or clubmans will also run Motards. You need a MNZ race licence as it is a race based meeting...not a race but designed for racers who are serious about practice and know what they are doing. This keeps it to those that are not scared of a bit of paint swapping and won't cry about it later. Go get your MNZ licence Shorty (if you haven't got it) and come have some fun. It will also be a great day for those who are thinking about going racing and want to "dip there toes in.":woohoo:

What would be the advantage over these as opposed to a normal test day held every second weds where you can use timers you dont need an mnz licence and its 20 mins on 20 mins off?

Also there won't be any cars there to track dirt onto the circuit as its bikes only. Either way, good way to get more practice in...not that you need it on Taupo bro!!!:sweatdrop

Sooooo , If i have an MNZ licence i can attend to swap a bit of paint (not really encorouged under MNZ code of conduct) and if im thinking of becoming a racer and want to try out my toe dipping skills i can , even though i havnt got an MNZ licence yet.
Yip , sounds like a good old open day to me on a race circuit. Unless it has an MNZ permit issued .
Ohhh hell im confused now.

Well kudos to you Frosty...nothing meant by my question actually....I really didn't see what you were asking for. Anyway, what does it matter who's idea it is....fact is Redline is running one so lets all show some love and get to it if you can!?!
Roadracingoldfart....FFS...lets just focus on what this thread is about...you know exactly why redline is running this day and I am only trying to help promote it here on KB! If you or anyone has any genuine questions about this day and what the rules are or are not, I suggest you contact Redline trackdays yourself rather than pick holes in this thread. Come if you want to or don't...up to you.:bash:

Old fart raises a point though Biggles. Its the PERFECT next step from a trackdayer to a racer-start practice.traffic etc.But the valid MNZ licence bit stops that in its tracks.
OK Im bein selfish--Read the thread and went WOOT WOOT just what I want . then saw the valid MNZ licence bit and went ahh fuck -Ive had a race licence for yonks but its not current. Hasnt been for a year.
Don't see much point in renewing it this year till after year end rollover in a few weeks time .

I would say if darrin is asking for MNZ licences, he must have been in contact with MNZ to sus this one and i'm picking it's for accident/clearance reasons !
Looked at my calender to see what was happening that day and whey hey hey i had a redline track day marked on there !
Well hell i guess i'm in ! (weather permitting)
Any word on whether the track repair repairs are under way anytime soon ?
Shit will have to get the lisence renewed this week then damn, warrant, reg, miles, screen, licence, rowing machine, exercycle

I would suggest you contact Redline and ask about the license issue...I have a feeling its not a hard and fast rule...but I'm not the one running it. I think its to encourage those who whinge at fast riders getting nice and close to stay away....I think you know all about those type of people Frosty! ;)

Tony did sort of answer ya Shaun, Redline do usually have the full marshalling system in place at their trackdays !
Good on Darrin for giving this a crack, obviously since he's started racing he's realised that start practise is good to have !
Hope it don't end up costing him !

Why ? He obviously just copied and pasted from the redline website ! It aint hard to ring Darrin direct to get horses mouth as such !
I say kudos to Redline (AKA Darrin Madgwick race #155) for trying something to promote racing for other racers !
And i also say Kudos to biggles08 for posting the thread making others aware of what Redline are attempting here !
Just recieved the vmcc oily rag sup. with the same info marcus put up on here ! Shall we ask them to provide more info too ?

Fuck Shaun!?!?! Whats the problem mate??? I have an offline life too and I ain't going to jump around trying to find out answers for other people who are to lazy to go and ask Darrin themself!
As it stands, I have talked to Darrin and whilst in conversation with him I asked him about marshalls...at this stage he is having a start/finsh marshall and 'roving' marshalls on the track keeping an eye on things.
For the record.....I AM NOT ORGANIZING THIS MEETING JUST TRYING TO MAKE OTHER RIDERS AWARE OF IT. If you have any questions I will answer what I can but why not ask Redline directly if you want "fact" for answers Shaun....rather than expecting me to be you bitch!:baby:

No problem asking questions Shaun and I will answer them when I know the answer...my problem was in the tone of your question...as Sinfull has quite rightly pointed out, there are other ways to find out 'factual' answers apart from waiting for me to answer you...I would have answered had I known...but I didn't.
Anyway, sorry if I snapped at you but it seems its all about 'shoot the mesenger' around this thread (not just you) rather than a positive discussion on what Redline is trying to do!

Biggles Have a looksee at this post Its definitely NOT what Darrin is saying at all. He is only apearing to want current MNZ licence holders (or perhaps at a stretch recently past gonna be again racers)
--NOW STOP AND TAKE A BREATH BEFORE POSTING --
What you posted is a friggin fantastic idea (yea I do lay claim to having it first:devil2:) I don't give a rats ass who actually acts on the idea.
This would be the PERFECT transition from trackdayer to racer BUT the must be a MNZ licence holder bit stuffs it up.
Im totally aware of the issues he's dealing of course and I can see the point. Just that a big chunk of his target audience is not elligable.

Rodger, seen a discussion on that on a thread on here, think it was the thread or Ad for the bike Jay was selling TBH ( a search may find who it was that was jabbering about it, could be the spanner man that did the work )

They are that good that all the wingers can now complain that the patches are too grippy!!!
I had fun yesterday. Started to remember how to ride... Got so much track time in before lunch that i had to go down to BP and get more gas... Also got to try a few race starts which was useful!
The track people have done a good job of the 2nd half of the patch on turn 7 and the one on the 2nd to last corner, I hope they do the rest quickly...

Well at least when someone "up north" puts on a practice/track day you have SOME interest (see my latest thread)
I say just get out there and support it if you want to see it continue and if you dont wanna go........ then stay infront if the fire and keep quiet!
With people such as these organising more & more track time it looks more and more promising to concentrate on racing in the north island when my young lad makes the step up to senior level next year.:scooter:
PS...... BIGGLES there are many engineering/machining companies that are capable of undercutting....but beware if machined with the incorrect method it will strip the case hardening on the gear surface. Which will decrease the life of your new box A LOT. Im sure that many of the KB members know the correct methods and will advise you of them (i think spark erosion is one of the better ways)
Spare a thought for us "southies" we are racing in Invercargill next weekend...Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:cold::cold::cold:

I'm getting them done early this week in the evening...a mate of mine is a toolmaker so he's going to have a crack at them :-). I've heard various opinions on how to undercut them and some people are very concerned about a gearbox being heat treated and some reckon they are not...oh well!
