I drew this for no reason at all. Maybe to procrastinate, I dunno.
Vikings are just like motorcyclists. Apart from the whole pillaging thing...wait, do vikings even pillage? Whatever. This guy just took out a whole village with his axe. And somehow managed to down a tankard of mead with his visor down.

Umm... yes you can. You could do custom graphics on peoples helmets. That would look mean on the back of my plain white Arai..... and, probably have the desired intimidatory effect on those determined tailgators :angry2:

Yea helmets! I remember when helmet graphics were really popular, a friend had a rabid wolf, looked realistic, and mean!!

If you can airbrush like that you'd easily get business doing tanks, helmets and other custom paintwork.
Nice work, you've definitely got the eye for it

tighten up your strokes a bit, do some more commercial stuff, and you almost definitely probably could. Only issue comes when the thing you do for fun becomes the job you can't escape :weep:

Not right now, but I can make one. I have a friend at AUT that can show me how
Doing art as a subject in secondary school really threw me off, the teacher was a cow. I didn't like the whole "deep and meaningful" modern art side to it, I just drew whatever I wanted lol

Amen to that. Hated it. Especially when the person next to me got good marks for going abstract/modernist, and I was struggling to get through by attempting to do realism.
Fcuking grades. Lucky they don't help ya get a job in the industry. I'd be screwed.

If you want to get into animation just send me a PM. One of my jobs is working for an animation school and I reckon the head tutor would be interested in chatting to you about your work.

I've been looking at a whole lot of airbrushing tutorials and whatnot. There have been a few specifically for helmets. If i were to get into this line of work i'd have to invest in some good quality supplies (airbrush, compressor etc). so first I have to get a job. lol!
anyways check this out

You could charge people enough money to cover the cost of equipment and in exchange, you can work on honing your talent.

I've got an airbrush/compressor sitting here if you need something to practise with. It's nothing spectacular, but it'd get ya started.

Woah awesome!!! That'd be great! I've heard you can use food colouring and water as paint to practise with, which I can supply lol

26th June 2009, 11:28
hmmm, never heard that...
I just used decent quality acrylic paints with an 'airbrush medium' to get the paint to milk consistancy (the optimal thickness for airbrushing).
Not too expensive, think the bottle of medium was about 5-10 bucks.
Danae
26th June 2009, 11:33
Nice! I've got a fair few acryllic paints. For helmet painting you have to use auto paint (solvent based?). I'm gonna have a wee peruse of tardme
3L4NS1R
26th June 2009, 11:51
Yup. that would be right. Then you have to go find a solvent based airbrush medium...
