Ok.... I have never bought a Bike/Car/Boat or Woman direct from a dealer, as in New with only demo Ks.... (Used is my middle name) :(

So... who here has been fortunate enough to buy a bike brand new? what did ya get? how did it feel? Got any pics of it you wanna share (you know you took some on the 1st day!)

it only had 5kms on clock when i got picked it up from dealer.

Bought two brand new bikes so far, the most recent is my CB which was a year old last week, the only K's on it were to the WOF Station and back, about 200mts, the Dealer (Honda Warkworth) paid for and fitted the Ventura pack rack/filled the tank/paid ORC and my first years subcription to Honda Riders Club was on the house. The pic below is the day I got it home, a Neptune can has been fitted and new tyres Dec' 31st last year.
How did it feel?....Lets be honest, I got a semi when I saw it....came home, got Mom and said...come.......and.....look......at...this!!!

Current bike, the KTM 990 SM was my first new bike... 6km on it.

Best bike I have ever had, depreciation is going to be a killer, but who cares, the bike was barely available new, let alone 2nd hand.

Sent it down the road more than any other bike I have owned tho... pisses me off no end :crybaby:

Had new...

VMax
1200 Bandit
Suzuki RF900
Suzuki TL1000S
Triumph Speed Triple

Prefer now to buy 1-2 yrs old so not to take the big money drop and also most of bling, exhaust, has been added by the original owner.

But it is a buzz having a brand spanker.:2thumbsup

My last two FZ1-N's were brand new. It's a cool feeling to ride off on a bike that no one else has Fkd with.

Can anyone tell me how to post a pic that I have already used on here in another thread. The system wont let me!!!

I leased a brand new Ford XR6 Turbo back in '04, I enjoyed that car, both as a car and the fact that it was new and anything that went wrong I just rolled it into the dealer and said sort it out pal.

07 Hyosung GT250R (3km on the clock from MR)
08 CBR600rr (800 demo km from Boyd)

I didn't think I could afford (or wanted) to buy anything brand new… until I did the math

I was spending $140 in petrol + $40 for parking to get to work every week in my car (plus being an angry man stuck in traffic).

My new Hyosung 250 was $7,100. It used $30 petrol per week, and parking is free saving me $150 every week. With the money saved, the Hyo paid for itself in full in 12 months. I sold that bike after a year for $5500. Now, this is the amount of money the bike made me because I would have spent that amount in petrol and parking.

I put that money toward my current CBR 600 costing $14,500 so this bike owed me $9000. I pay more in petrol ($45/wk) but it still saves me $135/wk. After 17 months the bike pays for itself. I’ve had it for just over a year so in 3 months time it’s all square. Anything I get for selling the bike after that is money made… to possibly go on the next one and we start all over.

I don’t know why more people in my situation don’t swap over. Bikes pay you to ride them

Oh, yeah… I’m over the moon.

I tend to buy used. Saves the thousands lost as you wheel it out the door.

That is what I say every time I want a new second hand bike ... then like the smell of a hot pie on a cold day I give in with no will power.

Have been owned by 36 bikes, good half of those new, last new one was my black hyper tard last Oct, got 10600 km on that now.

I've only ever bought new bikes! First up was the Suzuki RG150 in 1998, then the BMW F650CS in 2002, and the Suzuki Goose SG350 in 2005.

The first bike scared me a little as I was just learning to ride, but once I mastered it I loved it and had shitloads of fun on it.

I adored the F650CS and did 1200kms on it the first week I had it, but lost my confidence once we moved to a place with a steep driveway and narrow exit, so I sold it.

The Goose is fine, but since I got the Corvette (I know, twice as many wheels as it should have!) I rarely ride it so it's up for sale now. Not sure if I'll buy another one, depends on what I find out there. Maybe a small dirt bike or something dual purpose.

I see you haven't discovered the cost of tyres, gas and servicing that come with riding for fun...... Let alone throwing trackdays into the mix. You also forgot to throw in all the gear you've paid for over that time.

Getting a bike isn't cheap overall (unless you just compare the cost of commuting). But it's sooooooo worth it anyway

I tried not to over think it. I stay happier that way. ;) Dude, I whole heartedly agree, soooo worth it anyway.

I looked at the price of new bikes these days :eek5: Kinda reminds me of houses. If you haven't already got one, how the hell do you afford it.

Back on topic though, second hand, new, what ever. So long it’s different (in a good way) from the last one I'm sure I'd be just as happy.

A 1973 CB350 Honda,,,from Whites "Yamaha" in Putaruru.
Never had the money to buy new after that one,and as I only ever pay cash it's been 2nd hand ever since then.

'07 ZX14

My first bike was a Suzuki GS500E - great bike. And yeah, it felt awesome to buy it brand new. My second bike was the SV650s - hardly run in at 1800 km on the clock, so near new - and once again, felt great to have a bike only 9 months old....

I have bought a few bikes over the years and recently bought my first new bike:drool:

Im not bothered if I ever buy new again.

Hated the break in period of 200 hard km:clap:

Either I have done really well buying second hand over the years or buying new is over rated and expensive:dodge:
