I found some nice stainless steel mufflers, but they are a two-inch straight-through design.

I was thinking of mounting a pair of them on one of the GT250R's like this ; (question is at the end of the post)

or this ;

BUT, twin two-inch straight-through mufflers are gunna be really noisy, even on a little 250 vtwin aren't they? Like, forget-about-getting-a-wof noisy?

See it's all relative!

Buy them if they are cheap. You can always make up a decibel killer for the outlets - search for images of 'db killer' or 'decibel killer' and you'll see that they are little more than a outlet reducer - ie you have a 50mm outlet the reducer will make that 30-35 mm thus knocking back the sound.

Well, they aren't that cheap, but cheaper than the proper GT250R bolt-on ones by quite a bit, so maybe I will spend $350 for a twin pipe system. We'll see.

wouldnt ave thought they would be too loud, especially with 2 mufflers. But as always, depends where you go and who you get on the day.

should be alright though I would think.

Well we wimped out and just put one muffler on. Haha, its fooken loud! I can plainly hear the bike idling from 100 meters away, and from home I can hear it being ridden all around town. :devil2:

So it looks and sounds fantastic, and much cheaper than a cycle works or a SD. Pics to follow.

Whip yourself up a db killer then. I was playing around with mine this arvo as I've got one pipe fitted and could not resist a start up. The killer in the end knocks back a fair bit of sound and you can vary this by db killer design.

This design with a end cap proved to be particularly effective - might be a good WOF backup.

I also think I hurt my hearing by firing it up without any muffler guts or end at all - just a big farking open megaphone..........:rolleyes:

Well we wimped out and just put one muffler on.
Usually two silencers are quieter than one. Less exhaust velocity (supposedly the reason why Honda did it the way they did on the XL250).

But I don't know why you'd want to double the weight.

But I don't know why you'd want to double the weight.I probably halved the weight of the whole exhaust system by swapping the standard muffler for this one.

If I did make a dual system I'd do a lightweight one with lots of polished stainless and springs and clips and stuff, in this sort of style ;

Time I sold my MIG and bought a TIG I think.

Same as this muffler then, good value for money! Hd to faff about a bit to make the mount work but worth it.

Yeah we'll have to make a mount to suit this one. It's handing in the breeze at the moment.

I might also take a look at using a O2 sensor to do exhaust gas analysis.

Why don;t you just buy a vtwin with two tail pipes then you kill two birds with one stone.

Yep. Think limit is 98 at 2000rpm? So you definitely legal. My stock pipes were 97 and the drags are WAY louder LOL
