There have been reports on the radio that Michael Jackson has passed. Although all I can find is that he was found at his home not breathing. So there is nothing confirmed yet.

its confirmed

Michael Jackson suffered a heart attack this afternoon at his home and paramedics were not able to revive him, TMZ reported. Jackson was administered CPR in the ambulance, the gossip site said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department says Michael was not breathing when paramedics arrived.

PHOTOS: Michael Jackson through the years

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

Joe Jackson, the family patriarch, had told the site his son "is not doing well" when news of his heart attacked first broke.

OK! magazine's Web site says the publication confirmed the King of Pop was taken to the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and that streets surrounding the hospital were blocked by police and yellow tape.

1. Elvis was cool. MJ not.

2. MJ was an entirely fictional media construct. He will die (and not die) as he lived: in public, and the butt of many jokes (tee hee "butt").

3. to quote William Gibson "the rich are no longer even remotely human"

4. it is highly unlikely that Reggie or Joe will be reading this.

5. Its interesting. No one is making jokes about Farrah Fawcett: thats because that is genuinely sad, and tragic, and she had some redeeming features (not the tits, she could act, and in spite of the media construct surounding her, seemed like a nice person. MJ reaps what he sows: a spazzoid lunatic with a crazed demented and likely illegal and objectionable (as opposed to illegal and not objectionable) private life.

I hear they are going to melt down his body to make kids toys.....
So the children can play with him for a change....:msn-wink:

I am genuinely sad to hear this today. I met Michael Jackson when he toured here in 1998 with his History tour. My daughter was in Starship and he visited the kids there. Amazing! Have to say I was totally facinated by the man. Back then he was perfect. Seriously, he was a fine boned, small man, with the clearest features I have ever seen. Reminded me of those china hand painted dolls really. His clothes were incredible. His minders were HUGE.

We went to his concert too (a bit of a well done to my little girl, she was a huge fan back then). It was standout 2nd best concert I have ever been to. I actually wore earplugs, not for the music mind, for the screaming of 45,000 little girls, unbelievable!

RIP Michael Jackson.

how can people compare MJ to Elvis?

seriously people: Elvis was cool. Even when he was fat he was cool. MJ was NEVER COOL and a kiddy fiddler as well.

good bloody riddance.

HDC is onto it as per...people equating Jackson with Elvis or Lennon really need to get a grip. But hey, to be fair to MJ, he certainly got a lot of mileage out of that one dance routine...

if only you knew of Vanessa and GB's involvment with jackson you may not have been so hasty to post such a comment.

Its really irrelevant what their involvement was, unless of course they were grooming kids. But like OJ, MJ was guilty but his stardom got him off. No innocent man would pay millions upon millions in private settlements if he didn't interfere with young boys. Full stop.

I'm not denying he was a musical genius but it's kinda like that joke about the young boy talking to an old man over looking the village that the old man built... In short, see that church, that library, that town hall, that hospital etc, etc. I built those with my own two hands but do you think they'll remember me for that? Oh no... one goat...

But seriously folks, he was a great musician, at least before he became Wacko Jacko. IIRC, the very first record I ever bought was "I'll Be There".

That's sad. One big fan here saying same RIP.

The man was a musical genious, even through the later years.

5. Its interesting. No one is making jokes about Farrah Fawcett: thats because that is genuinely sad, and tragic, and she had some redeeming features

When Farrah got to heaven, god was pleased with her, and granted her one wish;

Farrah thought for minute, then said "I wish all the children on earth could be safe"
I wonder how may times we can post the same joke in the one thread

I have followed the life of Michael since the the early years. To be honest I have heard all the good and the bad.

There are many sides... the people that dislike or hate the man, the people that believe what the media say is gospel.

the people that like the music and once like the man, but have dislike what he has been perceived to become.

the people whom have had a close association directly with him or people whom have known/met(take mom for instance) him through close associates, whom have taken the media word with a grain of salt.

opinions are warrented, believe what you wish is what I say. to be honest it is sad that many have beleived many of the untruths over the years.

Admitidly at times he has not done himself any favours at times...

Michael himself was a biker... more a USbiker rather than Kiwibiker.

I guess back in the 80s he was the King of pop. I didn't like his music but it was bland and inoffensive enough.

But when the the allegations about his fondness for young boys surfaced I just could not listen to the lyrics again in the same way. Just who was he writing those words for?

O.K. so he was never convicted of a crime but what came out as fact was that he liked to spend time in bed with minors not related to him. That alone in some states would be enough to put him on a potential sex offenders watchlist.

Some of the media definitely had it in for him but I feel memories of Jacko's private life will overshadow his musical achievements. YMMV.

Admitidly any conversation relating to Michael has people speaking from both ends of the spectrum.

You know... someone that lives for 50yrs, and is in the entertainment industry for 45yrs. and those 45yrs you are surrounded by fan histeria, media histeria, are you going to end up like most of us that live oour "normal" lives.

Constantly living with storys told that are built up to sensastionalize what really happened. Some of those stories do good, some detract.

Its a free world. And I actually enjoy reading others opinions from both sides. the lovers and the haters.

"Stranger in Moscow" is the fifth and final single from Michael Jackson's album HIStory. The song was released worldwide in November 1996

"Why have you come from the West?
Confess! To steal the great achievments of
the people, the accomplishments of the workers..."

Here abandoned in my fame
Armageddon of the brain
KGB was doggin' me
Take my name and just let me be
Then a begger boy called my name
Happy days will drown the pain
On and on and on it came
And again, and again, and again...
Take my name and just let me be

Lisa Marie Presley to day wrote...

He Knew.
Years ago Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life in general.

I can't recall the exact subject matter but he may have been questioning me about the circumstances of my Fathers Death.

At some point he paused, he stared at me very intensely and he stated with an almost calm certainty, "I am afraid that I am going to end up like him, the way he did."

I promptly tried to deter him from the idea, at which point he just shrugged his shoulders and nodded almost matter of fact as if to let me know, he knew what he knew and that was kind of that.

14 years later I am sitting here watching on the news an ambulance leaves the driveway of his home, the big gates, the crowds outside the gates, the coverage, the crowds outside the hospital, the Cause of death and what may have led up to it and the memory of this conversation hit me, as did the unstoppable tears.

A predicted ending by him, by loved ones and by me, but what I didn't predict was how much it was going to hurt when it finally happened.

The person I failed to help is being transferred right now to the LA County Coroners office for his Autopsy.

All of my indifference and detachment that I worked so hard to achieve over the years has just gone into the bowels of hell and right now I am gutted.

I am going to say now what I have never said before because I want the truth out there for once.

Our relationship was not "a sham" as is being reported in the press. It was an unusual relationship yes, where two unusual people who did not live or know a "Normal life" found a connection, perhaps with some suspect timing on his part. Nonetheless, I do believe he loved me as much as he could love anyone and I loved him very much.

I wanted to "save him" I wanted to save him from the inevitable which is what has just happened.

His family and his loved ones also wanted to save him from this as well but didn't know how and this was 14 years ago. We all worried that this would be the outcome then.

At that time, In trying to save him, I almost lost myself.

He was an incredibly dynamic force and power that was not to be underestimated.

When he used it for something good, It was the best and when he used it for something bad, It was really, REALLY bad.

Mediocrity was not a concept that would even for a second enter Michael Jackson's being or actions.

I became very ill and emotionally/ spiritually exhausted in my quest to save him from certain self-destructive behavior and from the awful vampires and leeches he would always manage to magnetize around him.

I was in over my head while trying.

I had my children to care for, I had to make a decision.

The hardest decision I have ever had to make, which was to walk away and let his fate have him, even though I desperately loved him and tried to stop or reverse it somehow.

After the Divorce, I spent a few years obsessing about him and what I could have done different, in regret.

Then I spent some angry years at the whole situation.

At some point, I truly became Indifferent, until now.

As I sit here overwhelmed with sadness, reflection and confusion at what was my biggest failure to date, watching on the news almost play by play The exact Scenario I saw happen on August 16th, 1977 happening again right now with Michael (A sight I never wanted to see again) just as he predicted, I am truly, truly gutted.

Any ill experience or words I have felt towards him in the past has just died inside of me along with him.

He was an amazing person and I am lucky to have gotten as close to him as I did and to have had the many experiences and years that we had together.

I desperately hope that he can be relieved from his pain, pressure and turmoil now.

He deserves to be free from all of that and I hope he is in a better place or will be.

I also hope that anyone else who feels they have failed to help him can be set free because he hopefully finally is.

The World is in shock but somehow he knew exactly how his fate would be played out some day more than anyone else knew, and he was right.

I really needed to say this right now, thanks for listening.

I don't remember this being an "I like michael" thread either,so maybe it is YOU who needs to start their own "Pro Michael" thread if you can't handle it.
You wont see me there!

Respect is earned.

He may have made some good music in some peoples eyes, but i found it too "music corp" orientated.(Not my scene either).

And outside of his music, there'll be no respect gained by myself,or most people without tunnel vision or any reasonable morals.

Any death is sad but the hysteria arising over MJ is an interesting signature of our culture. He was a talented singer and dancer. People enjoyed his music. Fine.

But he didn't cure cancer, find the answer to sudden infant death syndrome, complete the mapping of the human genome, or indeed do anything which made a mark on the human race.

I know a 30 yr old man who has just died from cancer. He leaves a wife and young child. Quiet people living a quiet life. That is really sad.

Agree, i thought my surgeon deserved rock star status after doing his successful bit of knife work on me, but alas although good with knives he had the personality of a door knob, it would not be good world viewing.

Ive been tuning into the national station and you do get some insight into people doing some amazing stuff quietly around the world to do with what you mention above, there are some very clever people about.
But it still not stuff that makes you bodgey around the room like to a good musical tune ...unfortunately.

I’ve held my tongue long enough. I can’t do it anymore. It sickens me to find out that the world loves Michael Jackson.

I find it to be one of the most disturbing revelations ever. This guy was a psychotic nutcase. And the only reason he was able to keep custody of his kids after dangling his own infant off a 4th story balcony in front of the whole world was his money!

And the music? I find this synthesized pop sound that this talentless hack started to be the most soulless thing that has ever come down the pike! It sucked when he did it and it sucks when Britney does it. And what’s this ‘four decades’ crap??? His solo career was successful for a brief period during the 1980s. Period! The only reason he got back in the news during the 90’s was because he was accused of molesting a child and then wound up marrying Elvis’s daughter. And why would a man pay 23 million dollars to a family that publicly accused him of molesting their child?

This is your hero??? Who else is on your list, Count Dracula?

For the last 20 years of his life the guy looked like Count Dracula. He impressed me twice musically. The song “ABC,” which he didn’t write and the song “Beat It,” which doesn’t count because the only thing I liked about it was the solo done by Eddie Van Halen! Everything else in his catalogue was drivel. And the comparisons to Elvis and Sinatra and the Beatles? Puh-lease! Don’t even make me vomit.

He broke down barriers for blacks? I think Louis Jordan must be spinning in his grave right now. There’s a black artist who actually broke down some real barriers. That man’s music has even influenced the rap music of today!

Michael Jackson??? Gimme a break! 13 Grammys. Folks, I’ve watched the Grammy awards shows, and the more grammys a pop artist from the last 30 years has the more they suck! You’re actually gonna compare anything Jackson did to the song, “One More For The Road?” Or any album he ever did to “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band?” I’d rather listen to the soundtrack of the movie “Kissin Cousins” than to anything Michael Jackson ever did. And that’s considered one of Elvis’s worst films!

Sorry folks, I don’t fall in line when the sheep are expected to. As a lover of good music and Rock ‘N’ Roll I can’t get behind praising the talentless dork who helped killed Rock ‘N’ Roll. Would somebody please get Michelle Obama drunk and set her up with a male hooker so that our news stations will stop talking about Michael HACKson!

There I said it. I feel better.

Oh, I forgot to mention, he was an okay dancer.

Apparently jacko was taught to dance by Prince (or the artist formerly known as)

And I'd dispute the "greatest influence" bit. Wouldn't that be Fred Astaire?
Watching the continual reruns of Jacko vids on C4 yesterday, he really only had a few good moves - the moonwalk, the crotch grab and a few spins and high kicks.

Or Gene Kelley - Artistically that's an interesting debate from the innovative v scripted (I can't spell choreographed) angle. Well worth someone with an understanding of it better than mine. I like Sammy Davis' work too.

But - Numerically MJ simply because there are more people and more avenues to copy him.

you got it back to front. The world shaped MJ... he was a product of the publics desires. He never had a 'normal' life and because of that became an 'animal', eventually something that the public despised of unless he was the on-stage MJ that everyone respected.

He's better off without the world. And in many ways the world is better off without him. I just wish the media, and the world would get over it.

I myself even, am becoming tired of the media speculation of events that have been or are to be wether they be false or truth, as we await a buriel.

Michael was a product of a troubled childhood, and overwhelming fame and tabloid criticism, of which culminated in poor decissions and exploitation of his fame by many that could get close to him.

I myself went to 8 shows in 1996, and a short film world premiere, including a couple of public apperances for Sony, and saw first hand the frenzy that followed his every move. Though is was this frenzy that fed Michaels need for more, even though it was not realy what he needed to get better.

Michael Jackson's death has left fans so devastated that several have committed suicide, according to the man behind his biggest fan site.

Gary Taylor, president and owner of MJJcommunity.com, believes 12 people have taken their lives in response to their idol's death.

A worried Jesse Jackson has issued a YouTube message urging fans not to "self-destruct".

"This is a time when hearts are heavy," says Rev Jackson. "There is great pain but great cause to celebrate Michael's life.

"It made Michael happy saying 'We Are The World'. Don't self destruct.

"We fall down sometimes, we get back up. That's the right thing to do. In Michael's name let's live together as brothers and sisters and not die apart as fools."

Taylor, whose online community has more than 14,000 users and 30 staff worldwide, echoed the reverend's words that the singer would have been devastated by fans' deaths.

"I know there has been an increase, I now believe the figure is 12," he told Sky News online.

"It is a serious situation that these people are going through but Michael Jackson would never want this. He would want them to live."

The London-based entrepreneur said he was also having trouble coming to terms with the loss.

"I'm stunned that he's dead. One minute he is coming here for concerts and the next he is gone."

I feel sorry for the guy. Never had a proper childhood, and tried to recover that in adulthood, with terrible results (regardless of whether or not he kiddy fiddled, it was poor judgement to put himself in that position).

Look at his old videos; he seemed to be enjoying himself a lot more than in the later ones.

He had a huge impact on a generation. I wonder if that can happen again, given the many methods of obtaining information these days (he pretty much got radio and Music TV in his day). I wonder if the sheer volume of stuff on the internet will prevent anyone becoming as big as MJ did in his day.

I hope his kids grow up somewhat normally - they didn't have any chance before, they only have a small chance of it now.

you'd have thought by the media lovefest that the pope had died a tragic death after a lifetime of caring for lepers

This is the kind of madness that's followed Jackson's death..., everyone is acting as though the world has lost one of its greatest men.

MJ was a great entertainer -- innovative beyond anyone the world had ever seen.... but he turned into a disgustingly depraved man who hung an baby off a balcony and forced "his" kids to walk around with masks.. veils.. towels and even nets over their faces.

Great men don't pretend to be childlike to disguise their depravities.

The king is dead... and I for one am not crying

Whats the big deal with the baby over the balcony shit?
I see no differance than those dads that through their sprog up in the ear and catch em... a simple miss could end in the same result as a balcony fall, MJ ment no harm, it was just a bad judgment on his behalf.

Yeah.. it is a bit out there aye... but if ya think about it, MJ was as powerfull as the pope.

im sorry Dangerous .. i dont mean to offend any fans .. it just totally blows my mind that someone could get stirred up like this over a freakshow...

there are people killing themselves over this clown.. people didnt kill themselves when the POPE or Martin Luther King, JFK, Ghandi, etc..died

how is MJ's death any more important than a family friend of ours.. Jo.. age 80 something.. died of cancer Wednesday at 10 pm ??... why did HIS life matter more than HER life?.. she raised a normal, happy family with one hyper successful son..

his life changed NOTHING .. AIDS, Cancer, crib death, war, violence, Obesity, unemployment, car crashes, poverty, injustice and little rat-looking dogs still exist.

let the guy who stops ONE of those die , then i'll shed a tear

till then... :whocares:

Yes but that's 'our' choice and that's the difference. Jackson's son had the choice made for him by his father??

Steve Urwin did the same when he took his child into a compound with a crock. He made an error of judgment and it was fortunate that nothing went wrong. He was not so lucky the second time with the stingray.

I'm not having a go here with you D but there is a big difference with putting ourselves at risk by riding, and putting a 'baby' at risk needlessly and that is what both Jackson and Urwin did with their children.

Steve irwin.... the 2nd time with the stingray?

you say it like he only did 2 stupid things...

he did stupid shit with dangerous unpredictable animals all the time, it had to kill him eventually...

he got too cocky got too famous... thought he could handle anything...

and every time you took your kids for a drive? thats right you were putting them at risk, hell life is a risk...
it is only in your opion that Urwin 'made an error of judgment' he knew what he was doing as MJ did with his sprog both of them i expect had NO intension of anything going wrong same as when I through my sprog up in the air, or leave him on the play mat in between a Doberman and a Staffy...
