Since the BiffBird is in need of a new paint job, amongst other things, Ive decided to go black. I persoanly like the K5 matt black. Ms Biff on the other hand prefers a shiny black.
What thinks you lot?

Face it, you'll be chanting "Go the All Blacks" soon enough!!
The matt black with chrome stickers look will look pretty sharp!

There's nothing that looks badder than the shiny black mirror finish.
It looks fast and sexy:niceone:
Thats what I'd have if it was my bike.
How vulnerable to scratches is the matt black???? Can you protect it with a clear coat like you could with the Knight Rider paint scheme???

depends on what's making it matt. If it's just unpainted faring, and it gets scratched, you could lightly sand off the scratches... If it's a matt finish, then I wouldn't know..
I quite like the matt finish tho, bit 'stealth' like

What thinks you lot? From personal experience, I get a real buzz standing back and admiring my shiney gloss black Bird after it's been wash 'n waxed then chamoised dried (washed mine 4 times in the last 2 weeks!)...and I know that black isn't the best vehicle colour for keeping clean but it's not so bad with a bike.
Go with the gloss finish - there can be only one! :Punk:

Yep me to. I think at the end of the day its what you think. I dont like matt but we are all different. I find matt finish on other things like ????? paintball guns and such mark abit more but well a bike may be different. Either way its goona cost you a few bucks good luck

Helmets that come in the matt black finish scratch VERY easily.
To me the matt black bike looks as though it is unfinished.
Whereas the shiny one looks perfect!!
But it's your bike....... hehehe nice decision you have to make....

Nope - But she is taken with a GN250. We'll see, winters coming so she's going off the idea at the moment.
I on the other hand am seriously thinking about one of those new sheep skin seat covers for the BiffBird Mk2......

hmmm, would the matt black finish be less likely to attract radar, or will it make no difference?

Both look good. Toss a coin and let fate decide.

Yes it would be less likely to attract radar/laser....... pitty they aim at the head light :shifty:
Matt looks bloody nice, its differant but bloody hard to keep looking new, I know a guy with the matt VTR and its so hard to clean/not damage............ so Gloss is my vote.

You can clearcoat matt, you add a flatting base, but it'll go milky if you use too much.....
Personally,on something as big as a beakbird,I'd go with gloss.

I'd go for gloss - the "black mirror" look. I'd also get custom detailing in gold - black and gold looks great - possibly a thin stripe parallel to the edges of the fairings, mudguard, round the tank etc.

now that would be cool - go all out and spend more than the bikes worth and get it fully stealthed out...... the mil-spec coatings and all
short of that i'd go with the gloss as a good clean and it will look mint as!! its really hard to keep a nice finish on the matt and it shows up any tiny imperfection, gloss makes it look like they are supposed to be there!?!
mmmm shiny............ chrome stikery flames would look cool, that dude on trade me does them specially for bikes....

The "choice" of colour scheme question surely is academic until you know whether or not your insurer is going to write said bird off? If its arse is as unaligned as your earlier posts suggest, I think you'll find the bird may be going to that great aviary in the sky...

Hey Biff, sorry to hear about your tangle with the track but you may still be in shock, in which case let Mrs Biff do the thinking for you - gloss is good, black is very good.
Is the Xray on your hip routine, or has it been bothering you?

It's just very sore, nothing more. Not even any hero bruising!
It's Ms Biff that's nagging me to go for an X-ray. I didn't go for one in the end though - but spent the day with Dangerous and my fambly at the Malborough airshow instead.
My rational is the most it could be is a hairline fracture, and there's nothing that could be done about it anyway. :2thumbsup
