Ok you lot own up. Who among us is addicted to texting?

Was jawing away with a mate today, catching each other up on our kids as you do. She was laughing because one of her daughters is complaining she exceeded her 2000 text limit in a month! Far out, how do you send that many texts.

I went to the stupidmarket this afternoon and was served by a young girl who seemed just a bit distracted for some reason. It was the express lane. She somehow was not really interested in serving me as efficiently as she could have. When I handed over my trusty FlyBuys card (does anyone ever redeem their points?) I spotted her texting! Her hand was down by her side and she was clicking away merrily while scanning my card.

As I walked out the door, I heads up the supervisor. Far out, texting while serving a customer. Top effort!

So, how many of you lot are addicted to texting?

Though my social life is pretty much limited to sitting in the dark, drinking beer, and posting on Kiwibiker.....

Thats alright, I have a dream, One day I'll take all this bling I am accumulating and buy a boat with it....and sail away.....

First time texter, long time reader of my posts...

Man, I can not imagine sending 2000 texts a month. I did do some maths years ago about this and the amount of time wasted by texting during the day.

What he said.

Txting is a fucking slow way to communicate. Takes minutes of easily misunderstood to-ing and fro-ing to achieve the same result you can get from a 20-second phone conversation.

It has its uses, but I suspect its prevalence among young people boils down to the fact that it encourages easy expression; they probably wouldn't be coherent or self-confident enough to communicate to that extent when speaking on the phone.

Exactly right. I recall ringing a young kiwibiker "texter" a while back and she was lost for words.

Not hard. I usually run around 1000 a month.

Speak for yourself, grandad. I bet when u txt u spell all the words out like a dictionary. And no, it's not a fucking slow way. It's a very fast way. Cos you don't have to put up with the waste of time while the phone rings, goes to voice mail, someone else answers , "oh I'll find him " , "Oh I can't find him" blah blah blah waste time waste time.

With txting you say exactly what you need 2 say , and outta there. Simple easy convenient.

Txt is the way of the future. I don't know how ppl evr managed to communicate without it.

Cause the club removed any need for communication,no need to fuck about finger tapping, waiting for a reply etc.Simply raising the knuckles above shoulder height and swinging ensured compliance in all things. No maintanace and no monthly fees.

True. True. And no risk of misunderstanding. Biff on the bonce means y'r gonna get fucked.

Alas , we live in degenerate times. I don't suppose that hitting a chick on the head with the cell phone would have the same result ?

Well thats all very well for the CHICK. But it doesn't do much for ME , does it?

See this is the result of giving them the vote. Once upon a time we had clubs . So the men got laid. Now we have cell phones, and the chicks use them as vibrators and we miss out entirely. Bring back clubs I say. I wonder if AMC have a position on this.

Actually mate theres another use for the club,no need for those fangled battery things either, would hate to be called selfish,"its yours when you get back from making me a sammie......oh and dont forget the ashtray"generally followed by a fart loud enough to make even the dog jump off the bed.All this with Tracy Chapmans "fast cars" with to much base.

I think the most I have ever used in a month is 50 odd, and that felt like too much. Once I get a reply from a 2nd text, I can't be bothered texting again, and will either ring the person or drop the conversation.

Definitely takes up too much time when you consider you can talk hands free instead. Can't text hands free.

On the flipside, one of my client's teen daughters used approximately 23,000 texts in one month. We tried to calculate it  Assuming 30 days, 12 hours a day in one month, she sent approximately 1 a minute every single day of the month for 12 hours a day.

:shit:

Yeah I know, I could not remember the maths I did, but that is an astronomical amount of time to be texting. I fear for the joints of these texting menatilistsin years to come, they will wear out really early.

I text a lot. It's easier to form replies, while they do sometimes get misinterpreted.

I easily go over my $10 worth of text messages in a month, but lots of that is just bollucks talk about nothing important.
