Does anyone know of any establishments (bars, shops, dealers, whatever) that hold regular Bike Nights?
Its not something that I've seen here in NZ and I was just wondering if they exist.

I don't think a spanner night is quite the same thing - I could be wrong though.
My search returned 6453 results (apparently Bike & Night are quite common terms - who woulda thunk?), hence my query .

The SMC has a weekly Friday Chiller (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=89282), and there's always various Thursday Night Rides (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=92928) each week.
Might want to define what you mean by a "bike night" a bit more...

Where have you experienced bike nights before?
What did you do at these bike nights?
Perhaps this is not the best time of the year!

I have to say bike nights are pretty awesome, the ace cafe back home in england had bike and car nights where you could rock up, there would be bikes filling the carpark etc.

Bike nights as I envisage them from friends in the States are usually run by establishments where you roll up on your bike, admire yours and other folks bikes, partake of victuals and the odd liquid refreshment, perhaps listen to some sounds, generally talk shit and then waft home in an aura of bonhomie and goodwill towards mankind.
They are not runs as such but rather social events for motorcyclists.

Auckland Motor Cycle Club have a club night every Thursday evening from 7:30. It has a bar and they play various vids (bike related) and once a month have a trade/swap night.
Check their web sit for details.

Not so much a "bike night", but the Puhoi Pub north of Auckland is a real popular bike hang out. Especially go up there any time on a weekend and your bound to see lots and lots of bikes. They even have a special bike parking area (which is bigger than the car parking area).

yes thank mate - I was aware of that
It seems this may be a uniquely American phenomenon.
Hmmm.......I wonder if I have discovered a gap in the market?

I feel you, also spent time in the USA. There was always a local place you could go for a spin and see other bikes. Pohoi is prob the closest. I approached my local pub in Panmure as they just built it and its very nice, huge TVs and also cheap food.....and heaps of parking. I asked if they promote bikes coming as I feel its a market not touched here in Auckland. Lets face it on group rides we spend alot! Anyways he said he would approach management and I asked him if he could maybe put forth 10 percent off for and bikes.
I havent been back there for ages..... do you think I should follow it up?
And would people go?

Yes and I would.
It wouldn't want to be overdone, probably once a month, or even every 2 months, would be the go.
Done right it could be a real winner

Sounds just like the CHCH Wednesday maintenance evenings...:Punk:
A bit of tinkering, a bit of friendly banter, a bit of bike envy, a bit of drinking at the end of the night... :wari::wari:
