View Full Version : Advice on Keihin FCR flatslide part numbers?

Hi all,

I am very intrested in getting a set of Flatslides for my new ZX-7R.

There is a set avalible that suit a '96 Fireblade - their part No. is 016-488.
The Keihin Part No. for my bike is 016-487.

Now, I know one digit difference can mean the end of the world in most part numbers part but I am assuming/hoping that being a high quality part it shoud be fairly adjustable (Jets/Needles and set up is no problem, I am talking physially fitting here). Does anyone know or understand the difference in Keihin part numbers? As I can't find anywhere to decifer the difference.

If its going to take some adjusting (making spacers, etc) thats all cool. I'm hoping I would be able to move the carb bank spacing around to make it line up. I guess the biggest worry/problem may be how the carbs interact with the manifolds.

Anyway, any advice would be most appreciated :)

See if you can find out the info on the individual carbs which make up the bank. If they are the same type of carb, you should be right. Might need a CBR throttle tube though

Sudco are the main agents for all things Keihin. Good luck, they are the schizz if you can get your mitts on a suitable set at a reasonable price.

Yes did consider that...
BUT - I have been reading between the lines in that auction. They are a relist - they were up a week ago and gopt snapped up with the buy now instantly. The dude also lists the Honda numbers for those carbs and THEN says all the stuff about FCR's...I think perhaps they might be poorly listed standard carbs...

Oh - it also says "Standard carbs" somewhere in the auction and with no photo's and a question that hasn't been answered for a week (read - ignored) I'm not keen to try and buy them anymore :( Much as I'd love a set of FCR's.

ID number VP8CA...this shoud read VP89A, stock std. carbs, not FCR's.
I have a genuine set for ZXR750K FCR's but they won't be selling for 500 :)

Bikes are so much fun to spend time improving! AND Flatslide carbs are about the coolist thing ever invented...:wari:

Yup, totally agree on both points.....but it's heart breaking when it's time to sell the thing.

Yeah...but thats all part of it. You get over it quickly and start planning the next one!
