Anybody own Diadora Eagle boots ? Looking at getting a pair . Need waterproof boots that offer good protection for everyday commutting and the occasional weekend blast.
Would be keen to hear from anybody who owns a pair on pluses and minuses of them.
Thanks

Don't know about the Diadora's sorry, but are they guaranteed waterproof? I'd be asking the retailer or wherever you are buying them if they will stand behind their product as lots of boots (and other things) that say they are waterproof.....aren't. Ask them what will happen if they leak say 6 months after you buy them.

I agree with Hitcher - spend the extra and buy a Gore-Tex boot, you won't regret it, Alpinestars & Sidi both make good versions.

Yeh my so called "Dririder" boots leak like sieves and I've had to reglue the sole back on around the edges. The waterproof Alpinestars are nice but out of my price range.:crybaby:

Hmm, Alpinestars do a short boot that's waterproof which retails for about $320 and they used to do a boot called the Roam for the same money which some shops may still have. They aren't Gore-tex but the next best thing, Drystar which is their own brand of membrane liner.
Might be worth looking on TradeMe too, never know....

Cheers, thanks for the info. Don't like short boots but will look into the Roam.

Actually, not sure what size you are but if your a 42 there's a bargain to be had here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Helmets-clothing-footwear/Boots/auction-226674566.htm

And, don't forget we're in a recession so cash in your pocket is a good negotiator on price at most bike shops...

The one thing I would say is get an assurance from the retailer as I said above. Alpinestars, Sidi and Daytona (that I can think of off the top of my head at this late hour) are all imported by decent wholesalers who back their product. Diadora I'm pretty sure is still brought in by an outfit who mainly does pushbike stuff, I've heard their warranty can be lacking...though the product itself used to be good back in the day. I think Diadora has changed hands now though so can't be sure if quality is still the same.

I own a pair and am reasonably happy with them. I rode for 4 hours in heavy rain and there was some seepage but I believe most of that is attributable to a car driving in a massive muddle beside me and absolutely dousing me!!! Other than that, I have commuted 25mins in heavy rain and not had wet socks.

Well save hard for another $hundy and put it with your $300 for some top of the range boots it would be money well spent.....Spend your $300 on crap and that will be a waste of $300 hard saved bucks...go for the best, it will pay off in the long term..

There's a lot of truth in that, even though good gear still fails on occasion but in my experience the warranty/back up side of things is usually a lot better with good products.

Wow, they're cheap! The look pretty good. My advice is to try some on. I find different boots have different foot widths and different ankle and calf sizes. You're best to head to a shop and try on lots of different brands and see what fits best

These boots retail for $300-$400 odd bucks at Motomail I believe......

They get a bit cold with thin office work socks but when wearing thick wool jobbies then no probs at all.....

Hope this helps!

$300 will get you a pair of brand new Gaerne Drytechs, which are fooken brilliant for all-weather touring. Absolutely love mine - never had a wet foot in them whatsoever. Warm and comfy to walk in too.

I've had a pair of eagles for about 2 months now.
I rode in heavy rain from Dunedin - Timaru in them and my feet were dry when I got there. But I did have a rain suit on so it was only my feet exposed to the wet. They have a waterproof liner stitched inside the leather including behind the zip etc.
I can't fault them, now they have softened up they are comfortable but still feel sterdy. Protection looks good and the toe sliders are handy for saving wear. Good grip on the bottom. They look at bit "flashy" but they were the best value for money I could find. I picked them up for $179 from Waikato Yamaha on TM.
I am a newb though so my boots experience is rather limited, but I am certainly happy with these

Thanks for the excellent feedback.Yeh they do look a little flashy,I would prefer black. $179 is a good price,I've only seen them for $250. I'm considering getting some MX boots as they seem to offer better but may not be waterproof, will be a pain to get on and off quickly and also will loose feel for gear changing possibly.
