Has any one else got any ideas of how to make your farmbike into an awesome openroad touring machine?

Lie about the mileage as you trade it in.

What is the topbox made out of? Looks a bit like a plastic float or a barrel of some sort.

I think it's an old gas cylinder although it may be the pressure surge tank from a pumped domestic water system.

Road gearing, luggage racks, a larger tank and heated grips.
My awesome open road adventure touring machine started life as a farm bike :sunny:

thats hideous!

but...ingenious, affordable, and environmentally sound!

Well done that man!

Actually that sort of falls into the same area as men wearing pink...they don't dare if they are not secure in their sexuality!

This fella is obviously not the type that needs flashy shit to feel good about himself.

That's brilliant. Just plug up the topbox / aka cylinder and fill with fuel for better range on those island tours. The fairing and visor can be removed at night as a form of bivouac shelter. Excellent multi-purpose thinking.

I'll tall ya what's an 'awesome open road touring machine'.

A 2009 Kawasaki Concours 1400. A gazillion horsepower, nimble precise handling, ABS, outstanding comfort, integrated capacious luggage, and an electric windscreen.

:-P

Nice "Ned kelly" bike... for the outlaw in you.

This one below is another conversion that I'd be tempted to buy and road legal it because it's just so... well... open road tourerish.

It does look like an LPG tank (the top box) though tat would be quite heavy. An alternative is the air-con gas (freon?) tanks that are a lot thinner, and not refillable, so should be cheap-to-free from an air-con shop.

That's cool.

Not the most attractive of setup options but brilliant, unique and fun nonetheless.

Well done.

Is there a cut out to allow air to the engine?

Its one of those thinwall refrigerant bottle that the air con guys use once then throw away...

I was thinking that, you just beat me to it.

Wont the engine over heat?

You cant quite see from the side shot but there is a panel of 6 nice letterbox sized louvers in front of the cylinder

has no one noticed yet that it was lovingly fashioned from a 44 gallon drum?

Yeah - that's what's pictured in the OP... It's just the model without the ABS.

I was wondering if the fairing was made from an old police riot shield, but I was being polite and didn't mention it...:shifty:

Damn! - I think that beats my find , hands down!

In fact.... it is giving me ideas, Its a way to link my two businesses.
I could manufacture awnings and verandah screens for motorcyclists who dont have their own wet weather gear:woohoo:

they would also create a 'respect zone' around the rider for city riding.
I imagine that the heat of the engine would demist the clear panels in no time and that with a little more work I could incorporate an annexe at the rear for the camper version -ideal for cold kiwi! I had better hurry!:cold:
