As the title suggests: Who controls the forestry area in the Castle Rock area in the Coromandel?

Anyone know of how I can find out?

Almost certainly Ernslaw 1 - Malaysian owned. That will be their Whangapoua forest. Sorry, the only contact I had there left over a year ago.

Its Matariki Forestry- they dont let people in to their roading network but there is one road that is a public access through the middle from matarangi to the 309 road. If you have been in there you will have seen a ' no public access' sign on every side road. It is always locked at both ends but they cant stop you using it if you can get through. ( bikes can around the side)
very easy to get lost in there- I have been many places that I shouldnt while I was "lost"- great fun - but the road surfaces are all fist sized and football sized rocks once you get in there

God. Helped by Ents.

How to find out?
Prayer. Or take a couple of months out and attend an Entmoot

Yup. I know what you mean, spent Sunday casing the place out. Will have to go there again in more agreeable weather tho...
