Ok so after seeing Motards at Manfield afew weekends ago i'm thinking....Yeh thats me,

What i need to know is what sort of bike would suit me best and what do i need to know about racing them.....

I am 5"2 (with boots on) and weigh fuck all...

So any REAL advice would be great....

Erm, your weight is not a problem but your height could be.
The 'tards are very light and easy to manage, but I dont think i've seen any shorter ones.

Hrm, if you lower it is it still a motard?

Whats your budget? Quasi might still be selling his KTM 525SMR.

What bike you get is much of a muchness, generally the smaller the engine and the harder tuned, the more maintenance it's going to be.

I wouldn't go near an aprilia sxv unless you had lots of money to throw away.

Hay Devil cheers for that, Yeh height has been a factor my whole life but i've never let it stop me, LOL,

Have riden dirt bikes in the past and i thought thats what a motard was....dirt bike with road tires.

Yip saw Quasi's KTM at the track, bit tall for me i think.

Nice pic james LOL

I know i'll come dead last every time but who cares as long as i'm out there doing it right?

They're pretty much all like that. Then again, because they're so light you can often just step off the side so you have one straight leg standing, with your bum off that side of the seat and just live with it.

Effectively a dirt bike with road tyres, except more solid suspension, so you dont experience the same sag as you would on a dirt bike.

Yeh the whole tip to the side and bum slide is how i ride, LOL,

I was thinking motards cuz when i bin it(&we all know i will) it's less of a drain on the cashflow to fix,

I think i might start sitting on sum and see what happens....

Everything comes to me for a reason so i'll find something(i hope)

I have a solution to your problem Coffee Junkie come Streetstock Racing with me next year and we can come off together then you wont feel so bad. At least you will be able to fit onto 1 of those just like i can. We can have our own private race at the back of the feild and fight for last position, What ya reckon?????:laugh:.

How much do you want to spend? Will it be a track bike only?

You could go from a DRZ400SM, to something like Bulldogs SM610 Husky, or Quazis KTM...

You could get a motox bike and then get suspension lowering link for it to help you out, and cut the seat as well. Like you said motards are alot cheaper if you bin it. Also you can come up to Napier and try out close racing at the kart track. Check out kiwiracer.co.nz for some photos. Next meeting is the first sunday in august.

Mine is for sale.www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=228945625, it would suit you down to a tee, it has been professionally lowered by KTM so sits nice and low to the ground.... That and it is super fast.:Punk:

Just get motocross boots with platform soles - not a bad investment seeing as you are going to wear them down anyway.

I'll have to teach Balzy to cook something other than eggs on toast incase i do mess myself up(it's been knowen to happen) first.

Already sussed out boots Mikkel....it's surprising how you can mod anything these days,

Oh yeh big thanks to david foward(i think his name is) and his mate who i talked to last round at manfield simply for not laughing at me and giving me some helpfull advice....
