Trying to be serious, I only saw the beginning of that thread.
Tempers were high, and people were a little sensitive.
Understandable, someone was hurt, and it could have been a lot worse.
Whatever the cause of the crash and events surrounding it, we could have learned something from it.

Like:
It's a track day. People go wild. Lots of red mist. Huge mix of abilities. Someone will crash.

This should be something to remember for Frostys track day, organising yourself into the right group, show a little bit of restraint around others.
It's one thing to crash yourself, but to bring down others because you were clowning around, deserves a smack in the head.

I wasn't there, don't know what happened, it doesn't matter.
Crashes are crashes, and if you don't want to crash, it's best not to ride a bike.

Dammit... I hate missing something, and being in the dark. From what I can deduce:

Someone crashed. Someone was taken out by the person crashing. Person taken out blames person who crashed. Person who crashed doesn't think it was their fault?? Am I on the right track here?

I do think we learn from others mistakes, I don't really agree with thread deletion. If you say something in public (at a bar) you can't get your MIB wand out and say "look into this". I stuffed up BIG time with one of my first threads, but I left it on since I had said it, I think the same should have been done here. Bad Form guys...

From what I gathered, somebody crashed by themselves, near some other people, they took fright. Or something.

He can,t remember much about what happened. But recognised me, so thats a good sign.

The post was origally posted for you all to state your best wishes in a speedy recovery. WHich would be printed out and handed to the poor fella in the hospital. However, it turned out that some of you had to pick a fight with some other members on that post. Now, how am I suppose to print it out and hand it to the guy in hospital?

I really couldn't give a toss what you heard or what he said or what your friend told you or what you think happened. I didn't post it for you to fight. If you have a personal vengeance of some sort, take it up with the person directly.

The maturity of the replies were shocking. I apologise to all those that had posted messages, and I am sorry that I can't pass those on to Gary.

Never heard it... Guess im not up to date...
Andy -and anyone else that either heard what I said or heard it second or third hand.
The new leathers/new paint superstition has been around as long as I've been racing. (about 15 years) Maybee its a stupid superstition But I sure believe in it.
My comment was clearly taken completely out of context.
I suggested that perhaps he should have dragged his leathers down the road a bit -put a lil scuff on em.I may have said behind a car or truck but not with him in em .
I suspect that the bit where I said "OMG the poor sod with new bike and new leathers thats asking for trouble" wasnt heard
I also bet the comment --"thank gosh were close to middlemore"(the bone specialty hospital )was also missed>
Im so paranoid about it that I actually sanded a tiny section of mella yella's belly pan when I had it repainted.
I can understand the comment being taken wrong and im sorry that it was.

Now for the record - I gave a fellow kb er a lecture for not getting off the track fast enough.
I told gary (track manager) to order a ambulance with 2 staff in it.
I sent the track medic down the pit lane to get to the guy.
I was the dumb shit standing in the middle of the track waving the red flag to clear the track.
I wouldn't wish that kinda shit on anyone especially as he crashed 50m from where I destroyed my shoulder 10 years ago and in exactly the spot a freind of mine was killed.
I'm only happy -(if thats the right word) that it wasn't a lot worse
He could have possibly taken a couple of other guys with him or the damage to himself could have been irrepairable.
I must admit it upsets me to think you -(and as you have implied in a pm several others) would think I was such an heartless asshole who would wish bad things on another biker.
Read back on anything I have ever posted and see if Ive ever put down or wished harm on a fellow biker.
If you -or anybody else still has issue with me then please feel free to call me. 021544251

as for the crash, was bad, I really hope Gary gets better soon. My bro is still going thru crap with his leg from an off at Chrimbo, so I really feel for him and his family. All the best to him.

As for what happened, I'm not going into detail, but he didn't take anyone with him fortunately, and I'm not aware that anything was on purpose, it was just a 'racing' accident, which was unfortunate. These things happen.

All the best to him.

The superstition about new clothing (eg driving gloves) and new paint has been around since at least the 1930's, in car racing circles at any rate

It was common practice to ensure that a new car , factory fresh, was fitted with a well battered panel from an old one, so that the vehicle would not be completely new.

Tazio Nuvolari was obsessional about not wearing new gloves in a race

WINJA, he knows Arthur very well but he's not who you are thinking of.

F/F Thank you so much for the updates! :)

I will see to it that the people responsible for the track get a formal complaint letter from me about the dangerous bolt sticking out of the Armco.

Sensei, I accept your apology if you understand why it was so wrong to make that coment given the situation. Nothing wrong with my sense of humor I think. You might need to work on being a bit more sensitive though. Imagine how you'd feel if your Aussie mate called you a fucken Kiwi who can't drive, while having a few beers and a barbie in your back yard. Now compair that with some random Aussies calling you a fucken usless kiwi driver, while you were at the hospital, badly injured and your beautiful pride and joy was all smashed up AFTER you had a major crash. What if you weren't even in the wrong but people were pointing fingers just because of where you came from... even in a joke. Jokes are meant to create humor, not hurt people. There is a time and place for everything.

I think people should just fucken harden up and realise a couple of things:
1. People will crash
2. People will take the piss out of it
3. Other people will be sympathetic
4. A section of people with insinuate, infer or plainly tell the rider s/he sucks and shouldn't be near a bike

People (eg Feint) should stop crying/whinging like nancy boys/girls and take their medicine. It you can't stand the heat - don't post details of your/the fucken accident on here!

Yes an accident is a bad thing (been there), but for some people blaming the rider (and not riding in general) is a means of coping. Also - it is nearly ALWAYS the rider that has the accident (excepting mechanical failure - which could still be traced back to poor maintenance/attention by the rider).

If you ride - you will invariably have an accident (stats back me up here) - some people don't like to be reminded of this.

And Feint - everyone is entitled to an opinion - some people on here may believe that pre-accident he was riding like an idiot

FEINT

I posted this post because the responses to all the other accident posts were of encouraging words and get well messages. All I wanted was a list so that I could print out and hand to this poor fella. I assumed that I would get that as every other post has words of encouragemnt. I didn't realise that this would happen. But, I learnt my lesson, I won't post to help another down biker. Another thing Wkid_one. It isn't my accident. I was just the first person down there to help him, and I feel as if I could have helped him more by posting on here, compiling a list and printing it out for him.

If you really have a problem with me posting this post in the first place, by all means PM me and we can sort this out. My intention was to help this guy. I don't know why that is so hard.

This has really been a disaster.

Look, I'm not going to jump deep into THIS arguement mostly because I wasn't there...

What I will say is:
1) Yes people will crash, it's a probability but it's ALWAYS unfortunate when it happens. I feel for the rider, and I hope he recovers quickly. Thoughts and wishes to you mate!
2) While it IS silly to ride carelessly when you could put other people at risk, who's to say anyone was riding carelessly? Some people are more proficient at certain riding activities which would seem careless to other people. I don't mind someone wheeling past me. That is silly behaviour obviously, but I accept that they CAN do it, and that I take much greater risks out on the road everyday.
3) XJ/FROSTY is a top bloke. Obviously someone misheard something, and got all worked up. Tony I guarantee that noone thinks badly of you. He is also a man of great morals. He resisted the advances of a woman who threw herself at him, trying to pull of his leathers (new years hehehe;))
4) Curious George, thanks  A very humerous pic there. I shall try fastidiously to keep my bike and I OFF the Armco's!

Dude I dont know if it is or isnt unusual for the armco to be like that. I suspect that if we look round the track we will find heaps with sticking out bolts.Should be pan head bolts that go flush with the armco but they might be using hex head bolts which would cut through leathers like a knife if ya hit em at speed.
Keep in mind when we are "really" racing the bales are in front of the armco there.
I guess its a good argument for bike only track days -and on the day after a race day. That way hopefully the bales will be left out overnight.
Thank gosh he's basicly alright and in the hands of the experts.

3.Poor standard of equipment.Where were the bales.
4.Test days are a disaster ie cars sliding around nobody knows when its their turn on the track.Racers out with road riders no bibs for novices etc etc.

HOW LONG BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE GETS KILLED AT THIS CRAP TRACK!

Sorry but this accident has narked me off!.It could have been avoided with some attention to detail.

Anyone know when Hampton Downs will be ready?.

Sorry about Gary.

this has been the problems since forever.. no one really listens any more, cos to fix all these problems cost mula, something they don't have a heap of, and probably wouldn't make back quickly. They are doing little bits here and there, but it's all money.
Unfortunately, people have died and/or been seriously injured at the track.

Is Hampton Downs the track that's rumored to be the F1 track near Meremere? That'd be way cool.. way $$ too

In the twenty years since I first visited Pukekohe nothing much has been done to improve either the track or the facilities, they've finally got around to doing the drainage which has been a problem for even longer than that

The money that they have charged for running the events over that period of time would have paid for the upgrades that the track needs many times over
