What is interesting is that Ford US seems to be coping far better at the moment.

I'll be watching developments with interest as the world's economies continue to decline. Another 467,000 jobs lost in the US last month and 1,000 a week in NZ. Not sure of the latest stats for Aus. but not encouraging if the car makers are trying to survive.
