..something else ... I wish it was 65 more!!

I dunno what it will do hp wise but as long as she runs nice is what I want.

Gunna do the tank etc tonight then remove the airbox, set up the carb and rear suspesion all at once, she will come out a new bike.

Why certainly sir, just finished her off this morning.

I read about the header pipe excess welding and throught nothing of it, was pissing around with the muffler this morning and took the header off for a look :gob::gob:

Could not believe it, for nearly a 3rd of the way round there was a weld clump between 4 -6 mm high and a huge single boggie on the other side so I promptly clean all that out to smooth and round.

The bike now has DJ with 160, extended mixture screw and cut airbox top, free flow pipe and ground header welds, I did the slide mod extra hole and the bike runs beautifully.

It is much smoother down low and has a lot more pull so that is great with at least 100 hp more to the back wheel .

Anyway, this is her with the designa yello tank etc .... never seen one like this before eh :bleh:

i also choped about 1 inch out of my stand leg, before the bike would sit to upright, and was a bitch to find a good park in the rough..its sweet now.

looks good, neat tank.

Cheers man, yeah I lowered it by 20mm through the triples and put it up to the second bolt hole on the shock.

Doing the back actually dropped it 37 mm in one hit!!, I will leave it like this now to see how I like it, may do the side stand yet as this could prove to be a problem when gear is on board.

Hopefully getting a GIVI rack and coffin etc on Monday so will make all that fit as well, heated grips on this avo  great fun ...

It is 0 deg outside at 12.45 when writing this, at midday it was -.5

Hey there Monsta,

Take it for a slow spin through a few local twisties on the seal to check your clearances with the pegs etc :msn-wink:

I'm fairly vertically challanged and dropped my KLR by a couple of inches only to find that I then scraped the pegs WWWWWWAAAAAAYYYYYY to often on tight twisties, so then raised it up again. Bit of a compromise between tiptoes when stopped, and still having a fun time when cornering aggressively at high speed on seal :blank:

Check out Youtube for "Scraping The Sidestand on a KLR " to see a wee video of me tripoding on the sidestand for the same reason.....:nono:

And even though I'm a KLR fan through and through, your refurbed DR certainly does look good

Cheers, Stu

Heya Stu, yeap that is why I decided to stop at that for the mo and check my ground clearance etc, on our north island trip moons again we were scraping the pegs on my 650 dominator, loved that bike.

I have now set my static sag correctly which is better as it was way soft in the bum, being dropped 37 mm rar and 20 mm front it will have lazied the steering to hence I will try first at that, I am on tippie toes at that but it is not too bad.

I chopped 30 mm out of my hypermotard seat as well and that made huge difference to that so I may even end up going that way as well, I also had a soft top put banck in which made it really comfy.

Heated grips on this morning then I can feel a mid week ride coming on :headbang:
