What do you think, yes or no? Stats here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/usage/).
Wouldn't mind using it as a tag line for the site and for advertising.
Anyone know the sales stats (actually sold, not just printed) for the various NZ biker mags?
Spelling correction needed in title....;)
Been attended to...whew!
But yeah, fly the flag, KB is something very special.

Could always start an Ozzy Biker site. Don't think they have a general biker forums.

350k visits a month. I'm guessing Trade Me's motorcycle section would still be much busier.
You would need to find out the circulation for some of the printed media as a comparison.
But overall, very impressive!

Not really. Scan data is available but Subscriber numbers are closely guarded by each publication.
Apart from that - I enjoy friendly relations with Shayne, Paul, The Mad Scotsman and Mr Owen. We travel and ride together from time to time. Publicly quoting un-audited sales figures would be a pretty good way to end 'em I suspect. You'll find me in a ditch beside a test track with lots of tyre marks.
'Spose it is, but I always considered KB a social networking site more than motorcycle media. It's one of the busiest bike sites on the planet isn't it? Let alone NZ.
KR site is growing steadily but I don't think there would be anybody close to those web numbers.
The fact that such a high % of them are from GI Joe is regrettable.

Wouldn't take off, IMHO.
I think one big reason for KB's success is the geographical proximity of its users. It's not just an 'internet thing'; it's a communication tool for the NZ motorcycling community.
The same effect was observable in the late '90s on uk.rec.motorcycles. Contributors all knew / rode with each other and their posts reflected that.
Murkn and Aussie bike sites run into the problem of users who can't interact in meatspace due to excessive geographic dispersal. Ergo, they become 'just internet things' and don't take off the way KB has.

You do realise that that sort of means that you and I are, technically speaking, world-famous.
We should start a rock band.

Well it is, really, its the interweb after all. But it works so well because it is local, for the reasons already mentioned.

Putting on my Bliss Ninny hat for a moment here (I am very sad I never got that award too by the way) KB is not just any old web forum, it is life for many. It is a place where very strong friendships are forged. It is a place where you know you will get help and support, and not just of the biking variety either. KB is not your common garden variety webforum.
It's a good point... you could take it international Spank...

Be interesting to see what happens if you do. Be wonderful if it took off like here but somehow I think you have created a totally unique monster here.

Kiwi Biker is certainly very popular in Ngaio, but less so in Newlands, where I understand it is only the fourth most popular form of social interaction.

Is that before or after the porn is filtered out?
Or is it just biker sites? Either way - that's pretty damn good for a country with a population of just over 4m.

To compare apples with apples, you would have to compare page views on KB with page views of the mags rather than sales stats. Or (if you really want to compare sales stats) you could charge people $10 a month to be a member of KB. Not that I'm advocating that approach!

Not easy to compare a website which is 24/7, with a monthly magazine or weekly TV show, which there aren't any.
I don't think anyone can challenge us if we start using the tag line:
"Kiwi Biker, the most viewed motorcycle media in New Zealand." :niceone:
