View Full Version : Adopt a Racer...

Here in NZ there are many poor and struggling little bike racers................forget about all those poor 3rd world countries with starving kids, I've seen the ads, they have water and schools, what more coud they want:rolleyes:

In New Zealand there are a different type of human needing your support, these people can be seen skulking in dark places, and hanging around strange places know as racetracks. They seem to congregate en mass around animals with two wheels at these places................many looking underfed and malnourished, eating only when adrenaline allows, some even have to wear animal skins with bright colours as they have no real clothing......................poor buggers.

I can't stand to see this go on anymore, and feel I'm being drawn into the same life as them.

My idea is not a new one...............just a twisted version.

For a lowely $5 per week donation you can adopt your very own RACER.
In return you will recieve personal updates from your chosen Racer, they can send you pics of themselves on how your donations are helping them survive.
You can also visit your adopted Racer in his/her own environment and see how they live and even try and talk to them, a language barrier may exist but most can understand simple hand gestures.

I know times are tough but most can spare $5 per week to make a change in this strange culture, all it takes is for someone to care, wouldn't it be great to see these weird people flourish in the way they really deserve to:clap:

Thankyou for taking the time to read this, your time is precious to us, as without people like you we will not survive:bleh:

When one finds oneself standing on (online) street corners asking passersby if they can spare a fiver, I think it might be time to acknowledge addiction and stage an intervention.

There are quite a few talented riders out there that are in the situation of needing a hand of one sort or another. Some just need help to focus, others need mentors. The hard bit is finding them soon enough.

There's a good group behind Sketchy that have seen him really get to show his talent - each one adding their own bit of help to the overall picture.

As a sponsor, what do I get for $1 a day, apart from a photo of my racer to stick on the fridge?

Hell for only $5.00 per day , i should take up this option , it would be cheaper for me. :msn-wink: :niceone:

I have 5 riders i assist but im happy to say . I love it and would not change a thing. I spend alot of time (on some of the bikes ) but if i spent twice the time i still get the same reward from it.

Whats the result ?? .....
Smiles , freindship , improvement and numbers on the ground. = result.

Paul.

Interesting idea.

I know a guy who has his own business and he is golf mad.

A few years ago he got a few golf mad friends together and they sponsored a local golfer who was showing promise - can't recall how much was involved - a bit of coin each. Anyway any $ earned get split up with the player and investors. I understand their initial investment has been well paid back and the guy is doing OK with his career.

Pretty sure Scott Dickson started off the same way.

It's a good idea really. Help up and coming riders. Where's the pisstake in that? We could even add a class just for them.

Today in springfield police were called by worried shopowners, when a man parked his brand new honda on the footpath and tried to solicitate passers by with a gay busking routine !
A spokesperson for the shopowners was quoted as saying, "It wasn't so much the fact he had parked a honda outside their shop and was thrusting a hat in ppls faces singing village ppl songs, but when the perpetrator started doing stand up wheelies trying to run down those that had heckled him", they thought the police should be informed !

Couldn't you just be a man-whore like HDTBoy? If you can ride a lady like you ride that CBR you'll make a fortune.
