Just picked it up and iTunes restored all my settings from my embarrassingly old iPhone I got a year ago. It did it in a jiffy. Now I'm normally very critical of technology but boy do Apple get it right. It's just so easy!

Anyway, onto this new exciting model. Wow, it's got a compass but that's not all. There's more! One click of a button and it shows you where you are on a map, just like a GPS. How cool. Okay, onto the other applications... Oh dear, it's the same as my old one. It's got nothing else.

But the compass is really cool. I showed it to a couple of geeks at work and I said "Look how accurate it is!" They said "Well it should be, that compass just cost you $1300.

Apple marketing eh?

Hmmm, interesting.... so it doesn't really have anything too different from the 'old' iphone?? I thought it had video capability etc?
Vodafone announced they were releasing the new iphone about 2 weeks after I bought my iphone and I was really pissed as they were talking about it being about the same price as what I paid etc but that it had some cool new features.. ie stuff that I miss on mine, like video etc. Anyway... I still haven't figured out why my bluetooth isn't working, but aside from that, I love my iphone!

Don't be silly, why would you need a phone in a mobile?

Doesn't the map thing work on a lot of phones?

A lot that are about 1/3 the price..

Apples Iphone only works with sound as in you pair it up with some earphones

It wont work with documents to the pc ,,which is crap

I'm not paying vodafone prices that's for yup suresky.

Thing is it's a great games, utilities, music, movie and video gadget, with a handy phone included.

Having just upgraded my mobile... i was very surprised what features me new one has. Push a button and it brings up google maps and shows you where you are. Then you can go to satellite view or street view.

And being able to get kiwibiker on my phone is pretty cool too.

naaaaaa

you can restore it easily ( been there done that )

there are some good and bad points to Jail breaking , tethering for a start , bluetooth

and some bling bits

Now that I have a legitimate iPhone, I have found some really neat applications.

Skype - I spoke to my brother on the other side of the world on my iPhone... for free!

Remote - I have wireless music throughout the house controlled by iTunes. I can now control the music from my iPhone. Cool.

Of course you can do do all this with the older iPhones as well.

You should write technology reviews for magazines & newspapers.

The iphone compared to the likes of what HTC offerers makes the iphone looks shit. I think that they are a bunch of very clever marketing people really.

That was not in the list of updated features I saw.

You got a crappy camera instead

:EDIT

You are correct, according to Wikipaedia they did add stereo bluetooth

Bugger - now I have no reason not to get one :)

I bought one of the factory unlocked iPhone 3GS phones in Australia.

It's the first iPhone I've owned and it's a damned fine phone. I'm seriously impressed with what it can do.

Battery life is a bit weak, but I've got one of those Mophie external battery packs. Which basically doubles the battery life.

As an aside, the compass is also integrated into the maps application. Hit the locate button a second time and the map will orient in real-time to the compass (the locate button is the crosshair icon in the bottom left corner of the maps app)
