I have some concerns after reading to much on the net about how crap
dunlop arrowmax tyres are . My bike is a 90 modal cbr 600 , it had irc road winners on it when i got it and ive found them ok in the dry , but i have not really pushed it hard yet . These came up , a gt501 front and gt301 rear on trademe , $260 the set new. I planed to put them on and scrub them in early next week as i intend going to the motott track day, i only intend to go if its dry and stay in group 3 to 4 , i would ofcourse make sure i warm them up well and set psi but i now have doughts wearther its a good idea with them at all. I dont intend pushing really hard , just want to have some fun and learn the bikes braking and handling better , allthou i would like to improve my pace as the day gets on . Would it be maybe a better idea to sell them get somethink better and attend one a bit later in the year or am i being to paronoid ? Thoughts from people who have used them for spirted riding would be usefull. The Bike is designed around biasply tyres and it was a bonus they poped up on there in my size and for the sharp price , i dont have a fortune to spend on tyres, but the bike while geting on, is nice and
tidy now after a respray and good service so i dont want to lay it down if i can help it lol.
Are they really that crap!!

Sure about the 301? Seems to be a scooter tyre... http://www.dunlop-tires.com/dunlop_euen//tyre_range/motorcycles/scooters/sport_touring/gt301/

Ive come across both those links before, cheeres thou.
The gt501 sounds good if you listen to all that lol , but they get bagged everywhere:shit:
As for the gt301 in that link all the sizes are for scoters, however this
one i got for the rear is a 140/70/17 its not listed there but its the same tyre as in the pic . there are some big scooters on the market, would it be only scoter specific i wounder? hope not lol.
In this link it says motorcycles with no mention of scooters ,so maybe the line is for both.

Heres a good link here i found interesting on tyres, even sugests sport/touring tyres are fine on the track , within reason ofcourse.

check around and see what you can get in Bridgestone BT45's - stick great in the dry, and better than the Dunlops in the wet . I've raced on both, and thats my opinion anyway...... Any good bike shop can get 'em for you - Find a shop / parts guy you trust, and LISTEN to him.
Most of us ride, more than can be said for some of the mouse-jockies around

+1 for the BT45's over the Dunlop's....

Pirelli Sport Demons, Available in lots of sizes for older Bikes, They work really good in the wet too. I use them on my RD race bike, they have been on it for 2 years and i have bought a new pair and put the old ones (still heaps of tread left) on my RD road bike. Heaps better than the IRCs it had. I have ridden a RD race bike with BT45s and prefer the Demons, a mate runs them on his VFR and rates them well, i will ask him what sort of KMs he gets from them,
I will find a link of sizes and post shortly
What are your Tyres and Rim sizes?

Try these
Its a shame your bike is a 90 , if it was 89 (or can be turned in to 1) you could come post classic racing. Pre 89 junior
good big feilds

, however this
one i got for the rear is a 140/70/17 Forgive me for being Nieve, but what size rim do you have on the CBR ? 140/70 sounds very small and tall for a rear tire, especially since you using it on track now !
Be like trying to ballance on a pogo stick !
Wise words from them at the track when i started track days ! "If ya gonna scrimp anywhere, don't let it be on the rubber !"
The more ya pay the longer you'll stay !

ive just had a look at the old tyres of my RD (road bike), i thought it was IRCs front and rear, I had a pair of sport compound IRCs and they were really good , then needed a new rear and couldnt get the sticky ones any more ,only tour type, so i put a GT501 , no were near as good as the IRCs let alone the Pirellis. I dont road ride much and when i do its windy back roads, so they get a good workout

Hey cheers for the replys to my post guys, as far as the 140/70 goes on
the rear of my cbr, standard size these are f, 110/80 r, 130/80 .
140/80 was on the rear when i got it and a 110/70 on the front .
The dunlops came up for a good price in a pair 140 /110 both in a 70 series.
Over in the uk many people have used everything from 120 fronts to 160s on the rear, plain stupid ,even radials  thats been strongly advised against . I run them at the wet motott day last month and had no problems , i put 100miles on them before going and being my first one i never pushed them very hard but did pick my pace up at times . On the road they have been good as gold in more spirted riding coindtions , and ive found the 70 series gives the bike a better turn in whice i prefer and its still stable as a rock. I only intend to punt the cbr once more at taupo in the dry as i have now got hold of a dedicated track bike, ive spent a lot of time geting the honda nice and tidy so want to keep it that way . I will be trying some sport demons next time around as i see there are lots of good feedback about them . I have no intentions of going road racing , ive had my time hence my forum name . I do intend doing a few track days during the year thou, lots of fun and not the stress of a racing inviroment whice suits me
just fine now.

Go for the b45s if you can get them or BT090s you can occasionally find to fit them , sizes are correct
