I have a Canon Digital Camera eos350d and for some reason my pc has either packed a sad, or something beyond my knowledge, and I cannot upload my photos to my old XP computer, I have googled canon, but there is so much info about it, that I have no idea which one I should download to get the pictures off my camera.... so someone out there please can you help.

Oh I broke the usb port (?) that I inserted the card into prior, but I have uploaded via a cable to camera prior to using the port.... years ago on same pc.this is definitely how I feel right now>>>:brick:

Cheers

You can use USB to plug the camera directly into your computer.

Then it will show up as a removable disk drive in explorer

You can then drag the pics from the camera to the computer

Yup photoshop, possibly another but I can't find it... maybe another look in the clutter might help... the camera is a 2006, and I have moved 3 x since then... :(

It just does not recognize the camera at all when I do that :(

Maybe your canon is different to ours then...

It may not show up as an attached camera

But it should show up in my computer or windows explorer just like another disk drive

It's really quite simple, just lift the flux capassitor, switch it into warp speed mode, then shake the continueum transfunctioner three times in a circular motion .........

+1 to what Kiwi said

Card readers are the way to go.
Take the card out of the Canon and insert it into the card reader and presto. There you go.
That is the way we do it, we have an EOS 10D.
Used to use the canon programs but they were a pain in the arse.

Even just pick one up from Dick Smith or Jaycar or something like that.

I am just unlucky, my lap top died and not a few weeks later the reader broke, I will look on trademe thanks, and if no luck I think the 450d may be compatible.

Thanks for advice :)

It just does not recognize the camera at all when I do that :(I'd shut down windows and restart it completely.. Ditto with the camera - batteries out for a few minutes.

Do you have another cable you can try?

Steve

Thanks DB.. there are reactions to the cable... like my USB is not high speed, but that did not affect the computer in the previous uploads of photos. The computer was turned off while I was down in BOP this week. :(
