:scooter:......nz Wide Pass The Tag.....:scooter:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
:scooter:....................the challenge......................:scooter:

the first rider must be from Invercargill or close.
The first picture is to be of bike or rider, and i belive there is a sign post down there some where that points to stewart island. Bluff maybe ??.
after this photo is posted up, then this rider needs to start the inter island tag run.

:scooter:.................the game...............:scooter:

riders need to place the tag far enough north for the next district's or towns rider to tag it and so on..... the idea is to travel the tag up the length of new zealand from bottom to top.

when the tag reaches picton, rider only needs to take a photo of the name of one of the ferrys, in port. and post it up.

the tag will then start in the north island.

A wellington rider will need to take a photo of the same ferry in port and post it up.

the same rider will need to start the north island run, by posting the next tag..

the end result will be the last rider with a picture of his bike, or person's at the sign post at cape Reinga.

please add location with your tag.
please dont make the tags to difficult to find, as to keep the game rolling.

any questions.....:scooter:

okies game on...:scooter:

BMWST?
6th August 2009, 13:14
hey its only a game.....when you can kick it off just post the first tag here...just to be clear the man who starts it takes two pics....one at cape reinga then one as far south as he wants to go,and that tag is passed down to the next town etc etc ...Should prolly make the tags or clues pretty straight forward .Once it gets down to welly we can maybe see if its going south or back up teh other side.....

I'm assuming as with the rest of the Tag O Rama threads they do have to be "fresh" photos, not from your archive of old trips? :scooter:

I just happen to have archived photos from the one trip showing my bike at Cape Reinga, Wellington Ferry, Picton Ferry and Bluff (as I'm sure a few others here have). Not many other photos from that week mind you.

Can we still do the original one as well as the new idea? I'm in Chch so a days ride to get it from Dunedin and another day to take it to Nelson. Since it looks like no one else in the South Island is up for it. Only problem is that I need to get the risers and bars on the new bike sorted and that won't be for about a month.

No Bluff sign ... that is 340 km each way from here, to far for a work day "meeting", as is was I did 310 km, endured 4 Mr.Plods (no tickets) to get that pic.

Dunno why it is in general ravings, JMJ started it so I suppose that is where he put it.

Well said that man. Also, just a thought, do we make the "tag" a small novelty item that must be moved from end to end? Such as a tiny stuffed toy keyring size or a patch. Something that can be attached with a pushpin to whatever is in the tag photo? or a tiny scroll that can be signed or a deed to the south island or somesuch?

Big BUT is that I assume you be wanting to go the long straight bits faster than me. I want to put some more kms on the engine before I sit on 100kph all day. I'm thinking stop in at Raes Junction, collect it, then bounce it off the Bluff Sign and up to the Dunedin Virtual start that Joe initiated and carry it toward home. You could practically drop at Picton or within a two hour ride of Picton by the time u r home.:niceone:

Where I drop it depends on how much interest is shown between now and when I post my tag........
Could be Dunners or Christchurch or Westport maybe even at the ferrry, I'd hate for it ot get stuck again.
And it better not get stuck in the Norf Isl. either, I only go there for weddings and funerals

So it was you buggers up North that screwed it up!! And it's us Central NI people that have to prop up the good of the island. hahah

Maybe I should take the day off and mission up to the cape. Shouldn't take more than a few hours. Could do it in a day I reckon. All for the good of the game...;)

Are there any KBers at the tips of the island? Actually dumb question, obviously not. Maybe this is a summer mission type of game.

Interest shown. Drop it between the mighty river town and robbies statue and I will pick it up and carry it another 100 k or so. I know we have been slow to pick this one up but I think the point of PTT is to get people out on their bikes for more than the weekday commute so whilst I am in awe of your road trip from motueka to the Bluff and back I would be disappointed if the tag flew past on SH 1 without showing a few good photos of my region. (and yes I know I have had a month to pick it up frm the railway station (which I pass daily) and carry it all of 3 k to work but I don't think that would have been helpful.

Haven't done the Alexander to Rae's Junction roads before, it's absolutely superb.
I found it a bit hard to apply enough attention to the road at times while being distracted by the views and interesting old cob cottages and ruins scattered about the place. We'll be back there when we have more time for a better explore.
Even without the views it's a great road fully of nice sweeping bends.
Note, you can't buy food at Rae's Junction Hotel, it's permanently closed on account of it now being a private residence. Lucky we ate at Alex.

So we picked up the Raes Junction tag and actually have to Monstaman for getting us on those roads this morning.
Lucky we ate at Alex.

or you could have called in here on the way past, will pay more atten on how this game works, I did not know that the tag had not been done, but you're right about the roads TA they are  & i've been out on a few of the back roads as well lotsa fun

Absolutely stunning roads down that way, next time I'll have a bit more time and have a real good look around and take some more photos
We only had one car infront of us between Omarama and Alex and we didn't have to pass him either as it was close to Alex, brilliant
Central Otago and the Catlins needs further exploring on the DR
Great weather except for the last 300 odd k, few showers then rain as it started getting dark, with some ooops moments to keep me focused
The TransAlpers need an extra beer for getting back to Chch on the sat night, mamoth effort that one
Might have to do it again when the monkey butt gets better

Pic 1 Lake Tekapo
Pic 2 A statue of a dog ? good grief

riders need to place the tag far enough north for the next district's or towns rider to tag it and so on..... the idea is to travel the tag up the length of new zealand from bottom to top.

Then the game would be over too soon and everyone would pissed off. Don't be a dick. We doing this for fun. the longer it lasts the more fun we will have. Probably best to just leave it this time, There should be another chance when it returns.
We have a city full of KBers here surely someone will grab it by the end of the week(end)

I am safely home with the tag where I left it. Was not really going to move it any direction other than where it should go ... NORTH..ish

My thanks to Petra for allowing me onto her computer to post the tag ..... very much appreciated, and relieved... the tag hadn't gone... was a long day (or two)

Well I have a friend who lives on Winchester Hanging Rock Rd. which is inland some from Winchester, but Hanging Rock is accessible via several directions.
FJ Rider came from Alexander (judging by his profile and maybe something he said earlier) and went to Christchurch dropping the tag along the way.
If I was doing that trip by sealed road I'd probably pass a Hall Rd somewhere between Fairlie and Geraldine according to the map.

On a mission by any chance this weekend are you? Serious?

J is trying to avoid the people power cycling plan for the weekend by pushing for a motorcycling trip to the coast, maybe via Reefton.
I don't know, we were originally going to Kaikoura via inland/Lyford on Sunday anyway but she reckons the tag should detour North West.

Maybe I should go have another look at the weather forecasts. I actually really wanted to push pedals Saturday.
