SRX250 spark plug?

Hi all,

I'm from the UK, and the SRX 250 is extremely rare here, to the point that I have big trouble finding any information about it really..

I'm trying to get my spark plug out.. I've tried standard 10mm and 14mm sockets for car spark plugs, and neither of them fit..

Can someone who has one tell me what I need?

You need an 18 mm plug socket...I had a bit of trouble finding one for my bike and ended up getting a box type one from Cycletreads.

Yeah, I had read that on another site, but given that the 14mm socket was physically almost too big to fit the depression in the engine.. I say almost, it did fit, but I can't see how an 18mm socket would.. Unless the dimension refers to something other than the hexagonal shape, maybe like the height/depth?

It is the hex size, your bike should take a D8EA which is an 18mm hex and 12mm thread. On many bikes a standard type socket may not fit as the wall thickness won't allow it, if you have the OEM toolkit the spark plug socket in there should fit, otherwise you may have to visit your local dealer/tool shop and purchase a specialist socket/spark plug wrench.

the 18mm long reach socket has a thinner wall thickness than the proper std sparkplug spanner, these will fit in between the head fins and over the spark plug. just be very carefull when appling pressure, as that deep socket has no rubber plug protection inside it.
Go to a tool suppler and ask to view his range of deep socket, you will be able to buy a single socket that will do the job. usually a 3/8drive

Yep. Any decent auto tools supplier should have an 18mm spark plug spanner. It's not the same 18mm as an ordinary 18mm bolt. Spark plugs is different. Comes out easy as with the right spanner. Impossible without
