MERV 675
Competed in 2 rounds of the BEARS winter series so far. Had a successful 1st round in moonson rain at Ruapuna on the main circuit.
Had 4 wins a very close 2nd (people who could see us thru the rain said it was almost impossible to seperate me and Scott Sutherland at the line) also a 3rd place too.
so left RD 1 leading F1 - Streetstock and Hinckley classes.

RD2 Ruapuna "B"track
A bunch of 3rd and 4th places saw me end up leading F1 & Streetstock and 2nd place in Hinckley.
Scott Sutherland (675) has really "picked up his game" Dan Ormsby (675) also entered the series and is always going to be the man to beat. And Jay Lawrence (675) gave us all a lesson in riding (including Dan:)

Unfornately the 3rd round was a"double date" with Sportzfotoz junior Cup at Teretonga so missed this one as Ants was competing at Invercagill.
Haven,t seen the points yet but guess im down the ranks a bit now........... hey..... its a long season and im ready to rumble:):)

I entered the KOR Rd1 in Senior (1000/600) only to just ride the bike as its been a while. Not really pushing it but managed to finish around 10th overall lapping around 2 secs off what i can do at levels. Still it was good to get out there on what was the best day for weather in months.

ANTS RG150
This is Ants first full season of racing.
After a long drive to Teretonga we turned up to the track on Sun to thick fog and sub-zero temps and a very wet track. But the locals(after sniffing the air) told us it was gonna be a nice day!!!
Ants has spectated at teretonga but never competed there so after putting on the treaded front he did a very cautious practice.
Said he felt ok so turned up the wick for race 1.
RACE 1
Started off row 3 (huge gaps between rows here) Rode a steady race as the track was still very wet. battled for most of race with a group of 4. he passed a couple on the last 2 laps....... and with a couple of casualties at the front finished 7th.
I was watching and noticed that the bike lacked pull out of the turns so a jetting change was done for race 2.
RACE 2
Second row start, bike pulled much better at low rpm. Had a fierce battle with 4 others all race with positions 6,7,8,9 up for grabs. after being in 6th going into last lap he ended up dropping off to back of group and finishing 9th.
RACE 3
Similar to race 2. This time finishing 8th.
So 8th overall after round 1.......... We are very happy with this result at this stage.
It was my birthday on sunday and i told Ants that i wanted a top 5 finish as a present.......... he said he was sorry but said he would get it next weekend!

King of Levels Rd 1
Back down SH1 5 days later to Levels.
Ants was all fired up after last weekend. He likes Levels and didnt disappoint.
A 6th 7th and that top 5 (5th) place finish that he had promised for my birthday.
As a reward we sent him out at lunchtime on the SV650 (his first time) He had a smile a mile wide...................... and i think it made him realize how much body positioning and weight makes a difference to how the bike handles.
i think this little ride will vastly improve his 150 riding. His day was made complete by being awarded the "most improved rider" award.

PETE SV650
Level Rd1 was Petes debut race. Racing in clubmans to begin with before moving up to F3 later in year.
Race 1
Big wheelstand off the line and got caught up in the mid pack bunch for the 1st lap. He gradually picked them off to just pip Neil Batchelor to take 5th.
Race 2
Better start and soon up to 4th.......... a bit of 'grass-tracking" at turn one on lap 3 saw him lose quite a few places. he rejoined and finshed 8th.
Race 3
Much better start. Straight up to 4th. At one stage he was within challenging distance of 3rd on a zx6r but rode well and kept 4th. Looking at lap times he is only just behind the lead pack but they consisted of 675,gsxr,zx6r and they just have that extra hp especially on the straights..

So overall a great start to the season....no mech hiccups and no crashes.
Gonna get the 150 up to dynoworks to sort out the jetting. Also have a few tricks up our sleeves for thr 675 & SV too.

Sorry this race report is not up to the detailed standard of some. But with 3 bike to help run and maintain i dont get the time to log all the details. Still wouldn,t swap it for the world:cool:

Hi Swerve,

Saw your man on the SV650 in clubmans. He was going great guns. Gave him a pat on the shoulder when he came in after the race when he ran onto the grass at Turn 1. He was havin fun. Big smile on his dial.

Well done. Bike presentation is top notch too. well done

Eric

Cheers Feral 1
Yes he was havin a real blast:wari:. Looked at the latest pics on sportzfotoz and he definately needs some rearsets and a decent rear shock with increased ride height. All the "sticky out bits" and the lower bellypan on the left side are well worn.
But not bad so far for a novice on a 99% standard sv.
He has still got that big grin.............:woohoo:
