Rito i need more power, whats the best / most cost effective option

corner speed doesnt seem to be a problem for me but i am sick of getting passed down the straights.

I just rebuilt my bike with a high comp piston and got the jetting set mint so its puttin out 50hp at the wheel now.

i thought that was alright but i got nailed down the straight at levels in the weekend by a crf450, far from std tho its got 54 at the wheel.
i also got passed by a couple of brand new 450smr's.

let me know what you guys think.

the money you spend on extras never comes back. trade up or love it as it is and get yet another to keep it company while your at work.

Drink less Speights and keep up the exercise and your power to weight ratio will keep improving mate! Cheapest option too.
Spend the money on better seats for the van. My neck hurts from sleeping on a funny angle on the way home.

oh tru, 2 of them passed me and pulled away yesterday.

how much different is a smr to a sx?
is it just the close ratio box?
has yours got a slipper clutch?

Hi Dude, not entirely sure to be honest.

No slipper clutch on it tho.

With what Folic acid in bread ?

Scorry interesting to note that not many clicked the exhaust.

All the motarders I know ALL got the biggest gains by a Exhaust system

Also a cheap 1 hp is by drilling about 2 inch holes over the Air Filter cover, exposing the Air Filter, this is worth 1 hole HP and is cheaper than anything...........I did it based on instruction from Gavin Veltemeyer and he is a dyno tuner and KTM bike mechanic and a very fast Motard racer.

And new rear shocks for the van. Definitely need some new shocks instead of the bubblegum you are currently using.

As for the bike:

+1 for the exhaust. A performance header was the best upgrade I did to my DRZ. Heard a few people with worked bikes say that the header upgrade was the single best upgrade they did.

A new hot cam is probably the cheapest option, but you won't get a lot more power out of it, specially given the exhaust is probably your bottleneck.

I have the 570 big bore in my 525EXC (makes it 532cc) and you still have a couple more HP than me. A header and high comp slug will be my next upgrades (in that order) - just need to figure out what header to get (and save some pennies or sell something).

dont think i will, just seems like too much money given my bike shouldnt take much to upgrade

was sx cam in it which for stock is pretty good, soon to have a hot cam tho.

straight from the hot cams website, i have no idea what this means btw lol

Intake
Intake lift (mm): 10.80
Intake lobe center (degrees): 113.00
Intake duration (degrees at 1mm): 271.00
Intake valve lash (mm): 0.13
Exhaust
Exhaust lift (mm): 10.20
Exhaust lobe center (degrees): 111.00
Exhaust duration (degrees at 1mm): 261.00
Exhaust valve lash (mm): 0.13

no there are fine for a engine making good power in a 5000-8500rpm rev range with a 720 degree firing.
